Life & Work with Rosa Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosa Rodriguez.

Hi Rosa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We started to brainstorm during Covid as essential workers we hated being away from our children, we wanted to build something that we could do with our children. Our idea came from my father-in-law who was a Paletero back in the mid-80s, he told us that it would be great for us to take on with our children by our side. So, we decided to go for it and grew to love the process from start to finish, now we are more excited to see our growth as a family not just business owners. We love doing this with our children they have just as much fun as we do and not just eating the ice cream lol. We enjoy learning how to run a business, interact with all background of people and how the celebrate their moments in life. Rodriguez Paletas is more than just Paletas, it’s family, we love encouraging our community, our followers & doing our part to share a positive experience.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a smooth road as far as getting clientele and building our name to be up there in such a short time. But I would say some of our struggles is to ensure we have the proper permits, insurances, and paperwork to keep selling. We manage to figure a lot of our stuff out on our own but thankfully we have such a great community support system that always are willing to help with any tips and extra helping hands

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My career has always been in the Medical Field as well as a Home Health Aid. I studied to become a Medical Assistant but being a Home Health Aid has been something I’ve done since I was younger. I was raised by my grandparents and unfortunately, my grandmother passed when I was 12, leaving my grandfather to continue to raise me until he passed when I was 19. I had to learned how to drive, give medications, cook, clean, and all that fun stuff which made me want to continue to care for our elders. I know both my grandparents are proud of me now giving up and I know I’m proud to still be in this field after 10+ years but also choosing to be first generation mujer running a business from the ground up with my husband and children

Alright, so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The great thing about Paletas they can go with everything! Drinks, Snacks, Picnics, Event favors. Honestly anything! We love to collaborate with other businesses. It’s honestly our favorite things to see how far a Paleta can go to make someone happy all while being creative! Supporting us would be amazing by following us, sharing our page with others, and supporting local street vendors. You don’t need to buy a paleta only from us buying one from our paletero friends is also our favorite way of seeing support. There’s always enough and some for all of to support one another.
