Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Mitchell.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a San Diego native, and I feel so blessed to live my life in such a beautiful part of the world. It was my great pleasure to have a 27-year career as an elementary school teacher all in the San Diego area. I enjoyed putting a lot of energy into creating curriculum and enhancing the school environment with art. Children are very inspiring with the amazing beings they are.
One of the things I loved about teaching was the ability to influence the lives of others with positive energy and promoting personal creative growth. Now that I’m retired from teaching, I hope to bring this same influence with the art I produce.
In my eyes, art should be something you love to look at. It can create many emotions and can enhance the vibe of any space. I like to utilize both color and texture in my pieces, including acrylic paint, glaze, glass bead, texture gel, eggshells, and sea sponges, in order to enhanced the viewer’s experience. I surround myself with a visual space that brings peace and a Zen vibe. This vibe emerges from the canvas art I bring to life.
I am extremely appreciative of creative energy, and I’m constantly inspired by others. I hope my art speaks to you, inspires you, and brings good energy into your life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The most challenging part of my art is marketing it once it is created.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The art I produce is acrylic with glaze and texture on canvas. My pieces take several weeks to complete as they are done in layers. I like to create abstract and contemporary pieces as well as putting my personal twist on images I am inspired by. My art is for sale at Be Boutique in La Jolla. I paint a variety of sizes and do custom work. I enjoy working with clients on the size, color, and vibe they are looking for in a specific space.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I would like to thank Lisa Harrison for allowing me to sell my art at her beautiful boutique in La Jolla. She is an amazing businesswoman, and I admire how much she gives back to the community with events she hosts through her boutique.
I was also inspired by two talented artists, Lisa Tear and the art instructor she steered me to, Kate Ashton. Kate Ashton is a San Diego artist, teacher, mentor, and owner of Ashton Gallery and The Art on 30 Art Center.
