Life & Work with Tonya Morton of Claremont ca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tonya Morton.

Hi Tonya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My business partner and I were both helping out at another rescue and realized there are so many dogs that need our help. We filed for our 501c3 and thought it would take months to acquire and we received in a few weeks. We took in our first few pups and the rest is history. Here we are almost 2 years running and have rehired almost 100 frenchies. It’s rewarding and sad at the same time. We wish there wouldn’t have to be rescues, that none of these dogs would end up in shelters. Southern California has a major breeding problem. The backyard breeders need to stop doing this to these dogs, They are getting euthanized for so many medical problems. Some unethical breeders are playing Frankenstein with these dogs to create ‘exotic’ dogs. They are only creating medical issues for them which can cost thousands of dollars for rescues like us that have to raise funds to give them a fighting chance.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always bumps in the road when it comes to rescues. Finding foster homes, raising funds, medical bills and finding adopters. Every rescue has challenges and needs support from the public.
We always say: if you cant adopt, foster. if you cant foster, volunteer in some form. We need your support!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business partner and I are both in the professional world with families. Our rescue is our passion project and volunteer our time along with all of our volunteers.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
People do not realize how time consuming finding fosters and keeping up with al of the dogs vet appointments, posting their stories on social media and getting them adopted. It takes ALOT of work and volunteers to place each dog. But this is a passion project
