Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy Campbell.
Hi Troy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As an African American child, born in Los Angeles and growing up in a Southern California suburb called Diamond Bar, I was introduced to many cultures in many ways. Whether it was music sports or arts, I was fortunate to have many opportunities to find what it is I was here to do but along this journey I was faced with many forms of adversity. I can remember as far back as kindergarten trying to find a place of belonging. A place that understood me and I understood it. I excelled in sports, music, and the arts but was a very shy boy. Having two wonderful older brothers meant I always had playmates. Although that was a blessing, it also made it hard to create outside connections. Being on sports teams and in musical ensembles would begin the process of opening up and expanding into who I am today. Along with athletics and arts, in high school, I was offered an opportunity to do volunteer work with an outdoor science camp. My 6th grade science camp experience was pivotal in my growth so I understood the importance of this opportunity. An opportunity to serve others even as I grew into myself. I volunteered from sophomore year in high school till sophomore year in college. I became a YMCA youth Development Program team member then Coordinator of afterschool programs as well as a Disneyland Resort Musician all while spending almost ten summers working with kids at an orange county summer camp…These experiences helped guide me to my purpose. It wasn’t athletics it was connection and I was fortunate that through music, I would understand that I can use many forms of the skills gathered from each experience to create my own company Eclectic Vibrations where I can use my music education from Cal State Fullerton, mediation, mentoring, sound healing, youth development and coaching skills. I am currently also a Ceremonialist and Facilitator of sound healing in many forms for an amazing men’s group, Sacred Sons.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road to my current bliss was absolutely filled with ups downs lefts and rights. Finding places where my ability was valued was a challenging part of the journey. Also finding places that I wouldn’t get burnt out was tough. I accept all that has come my way as I believe all that comes my way is for me and no one else. I thank every prior experience that has got me to my now because with any deviation of that course, I wouldn’t be in my current bliss. I also had to realize if I had a desire for something, I had to stop waiting for it and create it myself. I am the Eclectic Vibration and everywhere I go it is.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

At Eclectic Vibrations we take the time to understand the complexities of connection and take care facilitating the many ingredients and variables that create the perfect Eclectic Vibration experience and allow life to unfold gracefully. Whether it is the need for a community of like-minded individuals coming together to reach a sacred peace or simply a space for you and your family to gather and connect through the musical vibrations of a family drum circle, we promote a positive environment where everyone can express, share and grow as an individual, or team or family. Shifting from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset, we unfold the many layers of the creative soul.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
As a child, my family had family vacations regularly. Before the age of ten, I was fortunate to have driven all the way up the southern coast with my family. As a young child, I didn’t understand the value of these trips. One of my favorite memories was riding in a chevy van that my father converted into our home away from home. This van had custom rug and a TV. That was huge in 1980. We took the van from San Diego to San Francisco many times visiting all monuments and hot spots. I honor the care my parents, Yvonne and William Campbell, took in making sure we immersed our family in other cultures and different settings. I learned how to go where ever the soul calls from them.
