Today we’d like to introduce you to Turtle.
Hi Turtle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started making music when I was 15. I felt this calling, and I followed my curiosity; being so young and having a lot of a free time, I just became obsessed with making music. Every day when I got out of school, I was working on music; even when I was in school, I was daydreaming about music. It became my life. My mission. My purpose. My reason for being on Earth. I am 19 years young right now. So, to answer the question “How did you get to where you are today” My answer is plain and simple hard work and dedication. There was no magic event or 1 thing that made me who I am. I’ve just maintained good Healthy habits since I was 15, And after years of working towards a goal and taking the right steps to reach that goal you eventually get somewhere. It’s progress, A lifestyle of success that I try my best to maintain every day through positive habits.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No! Hahaha, it has been a bumpy ride, not going to lie. But that’s part of the process. 1 struggle I faced was financial problems I was 17 in California, fresh out of high school, and as you can imagine, I WAS BROKE! I was investing every penny into myself and into my music. I dumped all my saving into my music career, and I don’t regret it. Obstacles and Challenges is something every human on earth faces, but it’s how you deal with them. I never let any obstacles stopped me; I keep moving forward. I’ve read a lot of books over the past couple of years, about philosophy, Emotional intelligence, spirituality, and success stories. I feel that those books have helped me through the obstacles, for everything is a mental game, and the more knowledge you feed the brain. The easier life gets.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an Artist, a musician. I am Turtle. I am most proud of the Shows we have thrown here in San Diego. My Friend/Collaborator 2polar and I have been bringing the community together through our DIY shows. The impact of the shows is amazing. We have the youth, these teenagers coming to the shows we put on and leave inspired. These kids can be doing anything on a Friday night, some might be getting into trouble or doing negative things, and I don’t blame them, Because I was doing the same. But us throwing these events it gives these kids something to do. To be exposed to art and inspire them to create as well.
To show them “HEY! You are full of energy, and you can invest that energy into yourself, not into negative things.”
I think that’s what sets us apart from other artists. Most artist try to just “blow up” and get the fame, the money, or whatever clout they are chasing. But that’s not my goal. I want to impact humans; I have real humans with souls inside them coming to my shows. I want to share my blessings with these people. Show them something they have never seen and help them realize they can do ANYTHING THEY SET THEIR MIND TO.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the energy people have out here. So supportive of what we do. Also, I love the beaches, of course. I go to the ocean at least twice a week dude. And what I like least about our city is the haters, y’all lame and need to join the fun for real.
