Today we’d like to introduce you to Vivian Lopez.
Hi Vivian, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started taking pictures my senior year of high school for a couple months. I stopped for about five or 6 years, and then I took another class at San Diego Mesa College it was Photo Styling with my professor Liese Victoria, which was August of last year (2022), and since then my professor Liese made me grow a strong connection to photography and supported me in any way she can. I now have an internship with another amazing photographer Natasha Sachi and have been able to hone my skills even more. I even got the chance to take pictures of my best friend’s elopement at Vegas!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been some struggles here and there. My main one is being a full-time student and also working on the side. I had to learn how to effectively be involved with my business and not lose my connections around me. Another struggle, I would say, is losing creativity when finals come or when life hits you with a hard curve. There are days where I just want to give up everything, but then I see my progress from my high school days until what I have done today, and I just keep on pushing forward.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a self-starter photographer, and I specialize in fashion/portrait photography!
I am known to take pictures that are eerie but also very delicate and airy.
I strive to be a photographer that will bring out a side of you that you didn’t know was in you. When I ask people if I can take their picture, they always hit me with the “But I’m not a model” I just tell them not to worry; I will guide them throughout the process, and bam, they are surprised with the outcome.
What I believe sets me apart from others is I don’t try to go the traditional ways or go by what’s in. I like to challenge myself and step out of my comfort zone and show the world a different perspective to photography, especially in fashion and portrait. I also like to capture my client for who they really are, I make sure their personality is shown through the image.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is my family and friends. I know it’s a cliche, but I truly wouldn’t have been where I am right now without them. To have such an amazing support system and help me out in any way they can has been the most positive experience for me.
