Makenna Kovach shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Makenna, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day is my favorite part of the day because it’s time with myself before jumping into work. I first wake up and make the bed, then I immediately brush my teeth and use my tongue scraper so that I can drink a large cup of water with a pinch of salt. Then I do my lymphatic drainage and facial massage, followed by breakfast with my fiancé. And lastly a Joe Dispenza meditation to get me ready for the day ahead!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Mace. I recently left my full-time job with nothing lined up, except a passion to help women connect the dots between their cycle and their symptoms so they can genuinely start feeling their best.
I’m diving in head first and building my coaching business from the ground up, using my years of experience and community to guide me along the way – one phase at a time!
I help women discover their unique hormonal rhythm and calm chronic symptoms like histamine and hypermobility flares through a holistic, cycle-synced approach.
Whether you’re struggling with PMS/PMDD, irregular or painful periods, fatigue, skin flares, gut issues, brain fog, migraines, PCOS/endometriosis, perimenopause symptoms, histamine intolerance, or hypermobility – I help you connect the dots between your symptoms and your cycle.
Through personalized education, you’ll understand why you feel different throughout the month and how to work with your body’s natural rhythms across all four menstrual cycle phases.
I’m launching my signature 1:1 Strategy Session where I decode your symptom patterns and create a targeted 90-day plan to reclaim your hormonal health.
Additionally, I will be launching my corporate initiative: Cycle-Synced Productivity – Optimizing Female Employee Performance Through Cycle Awareness.
I partner with forward-thinking companies to implement cycle-aware workplace strategies that unlock women’s natural productivity patterns. Through educational workshops, teams learn how to leverage the four distinct phases of the menstrual cycle to maximize creativity, focus, and strategic thinking. This science-backed approach helps organizations tap into their female talent’s full potential while reducing burnout.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I started out as a shy only child – pretty introverted until a transformative summer camp experience that completely brought me out of my shell. My mom still laughs about how she “couldn’t get me to stop talking to people” after that!
But even in my quieter moments, I was always a dreamer. Being a Pisces with a vivid imagination, I was convinced I’d become a fashion designer – and honestly believed I could make it happen. I had that beautiful naivety where anything felt possible.
As I got older though, outside voices started creeping in. The “practical” advice about needing stable income in the corporate world slowly dimmed my creative spark. I began shutting down those artistic dreams because I thought I “needed to make money.”
What never wavered was my science-minded curiosity and natural pull toward health and wellness. Even as a kid, I was fascinated by how the body works and what makes people feel their best.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Fear of not being successful. It took me a while to make the jump because my practical brain would turn on about the need for financials stability, and do you really have what it takes? I do a lot of reprogramming in my mind to help shift negative thoughts, keep my head down, and just go!
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
This is one I fear is where a lot of people run into issues. True healing does not come from quick-fixes or fads. It’s actually quite simple and foundational, but it requires consistency and commitment which tends to scare people. Away. Fads would be something that is promising something extreme, very quickly. Foundational shifts require effort but the outcome is amazing.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Negative self-talk, saying yes when I meant to say no, vice versa, and saying no to things that don’t truly serve me. I would really prioritize myself and my body so that I can feel my best those last 10 years. In my mind I would do my best to extend past the 10 years to be honest haha.
