Maruca, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
what I’m most proud of that nobody sees is that we are making a shift in the food industry. If you go to a store and read the labels you’ll be horrified of the ingredients they use and how they are poisoning humanity little by little for the sake of profit.
We are sooo proud of the ingredients we use, all of them very clean ingredients and oriented in helping your digestive system. Our products are pricey yes, even so, we don’t have the profit that breads that call themself “healthy” but they use fillers and chemicals, again, for the sake of profit.
I think that if little by little the small manufactures in the food industry make the shift and start having products using clean ingredients we will be making a shift for a better future for humanity.
At the end we are in a $12.5 b. dollar industry, some of that money little by little will come to the more conscious manufactures. Customers are very knowledgeable they know were to put there money.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Maruca and I’m the owner and founder of Maruketo Bakery. We produce almond and coconut flour breads, all gluten-free and low-carb. Our new an unique product and most popular one is the Almond and coconut flour Sourdough, there’s nowhere in San Diego or in the US that producing almond and coconut flour Sourdough. I’m totally in love with it for the amazing benefits that the sourdough has not to mention that is almond and coconut. Sourdough is a natural fermentation, therefor packed with micronutrients, enzymes, probiotics and good gut bacterias, which will make half of the gut work. Our sourdough is natural fermentation + low in carbs + gluten free + high in nutrients + amazing flavor, you can’t beat that.
We are now developing new products, like the focaccia, loaf with jalapeno/cheedar and sweet treats like almond flour chocolate brownies sugar free and blueberries cupcakes sugar free.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My father was a very sucesfull businessman. I was the only women and the youngest of 3 brothers. My father always wanted my eldest brothers to follow his steps and stay and managed the business, which they never did. And my mother use to say that I’m the one that is most alike to my father.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
that everything starts and ends with you. Iv’e always been and entrepreneur and live from my businesses but I was always complaining about something and I didn’t realize I was making my own reality. Now I bless my business everytime I can, I see possibilities instead of problems. I don’t complain anymore and try to be always aware of my thoughts and feelings
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Not anymore. I stop being affected about what other people say about me, best friends or not. Everything is energy and the judgeging energy is very potent so I just received thankfully.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I just went on vacation 2 weeks ago and all my customers in farmers market were missing my bread they order online and when I returned they told me I wasn’t allowed to go on vacation…….haha
