Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Gomes.
Hi Aaron, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in a small city on the east coast, I quickly became familiar with the effects of drug addiction and overdose. The way that it changes people and tears apart families. Most people would assume I’m talking about the illegal drugs such as heroine and cocaine, and although those are a problem as well, I’m really talking about the pharmaceutical drugs like opioids and other prescribed pain medicine. Now, I understand the importance of such drugs for treatment and my story is not one against the breakthroughs of modern medicine. However, growing up seeing the ease of getting prescription pills and the difficulty they can provide on our bodies, I began to wonder if there was a better option out there and research alternative measures. During high school, I really began to see the importance that a healthy lifestyle can provide for your mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Something as simple as cutting out soda and drinking more water can be life-changing for some! Fast forward several years after school and in search for something new, I found myself in sunny San Diego. Already equipped with the basic principles of natural healing, the west coast experience helped me to dive deeper.
I began to learn more about healing crystals, meditation and herbal treatment. It was all so fascinating and when I had the opportunity to become certified in herbal medicine, my curiosity continued to grow. This is around the time that I began my website, The Tree Remedy. The idea was to offer some insight and some useful everyday products that weren’t full of chemicals and toxic agents. Things that were safe for both the environment and ourselves. There is a power behind getting back to simple and effective methods and that is what I wish to accomplish. Through my website, I want to grow a space that can offer insight to simple remedies to help ease common health ailments along with simple and useful products that at the very least can help bring a bit of relaxation to an overworked and overstressed lifestyle we have all become so accustomed to.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe, like most small businesses just getting started, some of the major struggles you come in contact with our finances, start up capital, and building a brand identity. I would be lying if I said I have conquered this battle already. But, with the help and support of family and friends, I have been able to persevere. Because The Tree Remedy is so new, I am still working to pave a smoother road. And anyone living in California knows that it is not a cheap lifestyle so I work very hard doing multiple jobs to support my business. One thing that helps along the way is having and keeping the right mindset. Understanding that there will be setbacks and continuing on despite it all. I also believe in The Tree Remedy and if I am able to help even one person than I know this isn’t in vain.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
By profession, I wear a few different hats sort-to-speak. As some might say, my day job is in sales. I have worked a variety of different occupations under this umbrella ranging from cellular to furniture, clothing, and most recently, electric vehicles. However, my passion toggles between my life as a performer, singer, songwriter, host, and healer. My specialty is in writing. I have written multiple songs and worked on several projects for a number of different websites (including my own). However, I have always said that my superpower is my ability to communicate and understand all people from different walks of life. This is what sets me apart. It’s easy to try to sell people things or tell them what to do, but to actually take the time to listen to someone and make them feel heard and understood is entirely foreign to a lot of people. Like my family always says… Treat people like you want to be treated. You just never know what someone is going through.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
At the moment, my company is still getting started. I do all of the work by myself from website design to content creation to making and packing the products. In the next five years, I would like to grow the company to include a small staff in order to help with orders and production. I can also foresee a range of new products and information to be added to our site. I do not wish to change the concept behind The Tree Remedy. I want it to always have the sense of being homemade and environmentally safe. Not only that though, I would also like to create a space through my website where we can offer herbal consultations and provide feedback for people looking to seek out a more natural approach to health. Seeing that I am originally from the east coast, it would be great to have my business branch out towards that part of the country and allow for greater outreach. And since most of the world is turning to online shopping, I would likely remain mostly present online with perhaps a building or two for producing and storing products. Ten years or more, well…. the sky is the limit.
