Meet Aaron Patterson of San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Patterson

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in Eugene, Oregon with a great family. We lived in a forest near a river, so I was outside constantly. Whether it was playing baseball, building a skateboarding ramp, or getting into trouble, you could usually find me outside. I chose to pursue a baseball dream after high-school which ultimately led me to finish a Psychology degree at a private college in Kansas.

My college years were when I was stunned with my first taste of adversity. I wasn’t getting the playing time on the field that I thought I deserved, I was drinking heavily, had terrible grades, and I gained around 60 lbs of fat. I had no confidence in myself, my ambition slowly dwindled away, and I blamed it on everyone else. I thought the world owed me something….I was wrong.

It was one of my last year before I graduated college where I woke up with a different attitude. I knew this was all of my fault, and I needed to take action to change it. I started taking my classes seriously, and went on a strict diet/fitness plan running 5 miles everyday. In two months I went from 230lbs down to 160lbs. I also graduated with my degree. This was the turning point in my life where I started to understand what kind of man I wanted to be.

From that point on, my fitness career was the center of my life. I moved to Hawaii and started doing crossfit, surfing and learning how to eat the right food. I started traveling the world which ended up landing me in San Diego, California

I started my coaching/personal training journey in San Diego, where I obtained an amazing mentor/boss and friend named Jenny. She guided me to receive my crossfit and Olympic lifting coaching certifications.

Now I am currently doing full time online fitness, nutrition, and mindset coaching. I took my own personal experiences and the tools I have learned from my training to help with my coaching. I couldn’t be happier. I truly care about this job and I wake up every day excited and blessed that I am able to help individuals change their lives.

The world owes you nothing. If you don’t take action, you will live a miserable life… Depressed, unhealthy, and feeling lost. I know how that feels, and I would take my new life 100% of time. Just know it will not come easy, you have to want it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In college, I created some very unhealthy habits that brought me to a very low point in my life.

I was overweight, drinking heavily, living a life of pity. I projected that onto everyone around me, which is why I switched schools so many times. I thought everyone else was the problem. I was the problem. I didn’t realize it till later.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an online fitness/nutrition coach.

I work with people in their busy lives, and create healthy workout and nutrition habits for them.

I know there are millions of online trainers out there, so why would it be beneficial to work with me? That is the question that many people ask me.

Notice how I say workout and nutrition habits, not “program.” That explains a lot of how I coach. My clients are built to not need me anymore. We create healthy habits so they can eventually do it on their own. Even though most of them usually stay because they enjoy working with me.

I am raw. I am unfiltered. I love my clients. I truly care about them. I don’t make flashy videos on social media misdirecting you from the real issues, or outlandish claims about food or workouts. I tell them what is real, and what I go through everyday in my personal life to stay healthy and productive. And my clients relate to that. They relate to REAL. There isn’t enough of that these days unfortunately.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Be okay with failure.

Thomas Edison once said “I didn’t fail a thousand times. The lightbulb is an invention that required 1000 attempts before it could succeed.”

Every time you fail, you get closer to success.

Don’t be afraid of failure, embrace it.
