Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Boretto
Hi Abby, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I never quite know where to begin with my story because I’m constantly evolving and changing my approach to life. Over the past decade, I’ve thrown myself into many new challenges—never wanting to stay stagnant, always driven by an adventurous spirit. My philosophy has been to raise the bar for myself continually. Whether it’s jumping into unknown territory or taking risks, I’ve learned that there’s so much more to gain than lose when you embrace the unknown.
Raising three children, I was fully immersed in their world, from working in their classrooms to being the team mom for their many activities. But as they grew more independent, I found the space to forge my own path in community volunteerism and civic activism. Service had always been a cornerstone of my life, but now I could take it to new heights.
Always looking for the next big challenge, I competed for and earned the title of Mrs. California All-Star United States. This was a pivotal experience that opened doors I would never have considered walking through on my own. It pushed me far out of my comfort zone, but I had an absolute blast embracing the experience.
My journey didn’t stop there. Naturally seeking out my next adventure, I became a silver-haired model, blazing a trail for women who wanted to embrace a more authentic version of themselves. This has been one of the highlights of my life. I’ve had the privilege of speaking to countless women about breaking free from societal expectations and embracing their inner beauty. The conversations and connections I’ve formed through this have been deeply inspiring.
Unexpectedly, an act of gratitude unlocked a new chapter in my life, one that has transformed not only my story but also the stories of so many others. I became a documentarian. I recently completed my documentary The Ring and The Mountain, which tells the powerful story of a girl meeting her father for the first time posthumously through the memories of those who knew him—family, friends, classmates, and servicemembers. This project has been a transformative journey, both personally and creatively. Traveling internationally to showcase the film has been an incredible experience, adding an explosive new dimension to my life.
So, what’s next? I’m not entirely sure yet—but I know it’s going to be big!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think we all grow up with some level of regret or frustration when we look back, and for a long time, I felt stuck in that space. It’s tough to go through life without comparing yourself to others, and while I believe that’s a natural part of growing up, it can also become a weight that holds you back. Over time, I’ve taken the space to reflect deeply on my experiences, which has helped me shift my perspective. In doing so, I’ve come to realize that, despite the inevitable ups and downs, I’ve lived a truly charmed life.
That said, I’ve always been fiercely independent and strong-willed, with a solid sense of who I am. From a young age, I’ve carried this inner strength, allowing me to move through challenges with resilience and a clear vision of what I want. This has been one of the defining traits that have helped me navigate the many twists and turns of life. I’ve faced my fair share of obstacles, but I’ve never let them define me. Instead, I’ve learned to use them as stepping stones, growing from each experience and gaining the confidence to carve my own path.
There were times when things didn’t go as planned—moments of self-doubt, times when I felt out of place, and setbacks that seemed overwhelming—but those moments shaped me. They taught me patience, perseverance, and the value of adapting when life doesn’t go according to the script

A ever-evolving Life……
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in a picturesque, historic small town in Connecticut, where my family has been rooted since 1645. We come from a long lineage that has contributed positively to the state’s history, a legacy I’ve always been proud of. My family was large and close-knit, gathering frequently to celebrate holidays, milestones, and the everyday joys of life. These moments, filled with laughter and togetherness, are some of my most cherished memories.
Adventure was always a part of our family’s lifestyle. Hot-air ballooning wasn’t just a weekend novelty—it was part of the family business. I spent many weekends taking helicopter sightseeing trips, exploring the beauty of the Eastern seaboard and beyond. Summers were spent at the beach cottage, and skiing during the winters became a beloved tradition, marking the rhythm of my year.
From an early age, community service was ingrained in me. My family’s strong sense of duty to give back to others left a lasting imprint on my life. Some of my fondest memories involve volunteering alongside my family, working together to help those in need. That commitment to service is something that continues to guide me today. It has become one of my greatest passions, a thread that has woven through every stage of my life.
