Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Schumann.
Hi Adam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Imagery Machine is a band. The band is currently made of 4 members: Jennie and Tyler who started the band back in 2015 but have added newish members such as myself on lead guitar and Victoria on bass. We came together for the love of indie rock music. But that vision has shifted over the years, when the band first started it was mainly a reggae band like with early songs such as “Discoveries” (now on Spotify). Our newer stuff is more straight forward indie rock but you can still hear reggae undertones in many of our songs. We have a new song cumming out called “Whatever You Want From Me”, which is an up tempo funky fun dance song (now on Spotify).
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has most definitely not been smooth. For example one struggle that we’ve had was our lockout room flooded in the last big rainstorm. COVID also really slowed us down, but we are back in action. Navigating the world of social media has also been a challenge, but we are adapting like good robots do.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a visiting teacher, for the San Diego School District. Working with students is extremely rewarding, helping them learn and grow to become productive members of society.
What makes you happy?
Creating new songs and getting to hang out and jam makes me happy. This fulfills my creative side and I believe everyone needs a creative outlet. Being on stage and feeling the energy from the crowd is why we do what we do. Outside of Music 3/4 of us play lots of Magic: the Gathering. We bring cards with us everywhere from rehearsals to recording sessions.
