Meet Adrienne Moore of The Bloom Of Time in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Moore.

Adrienne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The Bloom Of Time began with a giant spark of creativity and a simple passion for making art out of the bounty that nature brings us with each season. Over the past 8 years, we have grown to include a team of talented designers and client specialists servicing Orange County and Southern California. The phrase “the bloom of time” stems from the meaning of the Japanese words, wabi-sabi, which approach the beauty and character that material things acquire as they endure the passing of time — something which has always inspired our work.

We are passionate about working personally with our clients to meet and exceed their needs and expectations, creating designs that are eye-catching, relevant, and expressive of their individual stories. We seek to provide each of our clients with a premium floral experience, using our design expertise to infuse your environment with an inviting and artful touch. We specialize in weddings and occasions of all kinds, as well as individually inspired designs for your home, workplace, friend, or loved one.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not always!! We went into business with the love of creating beautiful things out of flowers, but quickly found that as we grew, we spent more time running the business side of things and less time making bouquets in the studio! It is our first time owning a business, so we learned a lot of business things as we grew, some of them the hard way. We learned to seek advice from mentors and experts in the areas we aren’t the strongest in. We are so thankful for the supportive community we found ourselves in that helped us to grow and learn quickly!

Of course, there were also lots of tough lessons we learned along the way. Flowers that died because we treated them incorrectly and had to be replaced. Expensive advertising that didn’t pay off. Challenging situations with customers that we didn’t foresee. Ultimately though, through the struggles, we kept our focus on WHY we do what we do, and that’s because we love making people happy with flowers and design! Each mistake is a valuable opportunity to learn, and you can’t let the fear of failure or imperfection keep you from doing what you’re passionate about.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Bloom Of Time story. Tell us more about the business.
We are known for our creativity, versatility, and our very client-focused approach. We love to bring a client’s vision to life in a unique and special way that is even better than they could have imagined!

Up until the pandemic, we have specialized in wedding and event florals, with everyday deliveries being just a small portion of our sales. But with the restriction on gatherings due to the pandemic, we are diverting more energy into our everyday floral designs, and have been so happy to see growth there! We are so grateful to still be able to serve our community during this time, and I’m so proud of our team as they have all been so flexible in pivoting this business through the uncertainty we face. We hope to be back creating beautiful designs for weddings again soon, but we will definitely keep the everyday floral shop open as we love the way we are able to help our customers celebrate small occasions as well as the grander ones!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
It’s so hard to say at present, but I would say that smaller and more intimate gatherings are certainly something we are focusing on now when it comes to our event work. A lot of clients are more cognizant of eco-friendly floral options and the carbon footprints of their events, so we are putting energy into finding ways to be more sustainable as florists while not sacrificing the high-end look our clients desire.

In the retail world, I would guess that sending fresh flowers will remain steady, as there are many who want to show their love from afar these days. I’ve also seen a growing focus on conscious consumerism from our customers, which has led us to increase our offering of thoughtfully made and hand-crafted vases, gifting items, and presentations. We truly enjoy the process of growing along with our clients, evolving and changing as we are all learning to live our best lives together, one season at a time!
