Today we’d like to introduce you to Alec deGroot.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Alec. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always had a love for dogs and animals growing up. I came across a dog walking service online called Wag and I thought it would be a nice little side hustle while looking for a full-time job. While months went by with no real job, I began doing walks more and more frequently to keep up with life and bills. I then realized that I would make this my full-time job and work on creating my own dog walking and pet care business.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. Being a dog walker/entrepreneur I have to endure risks and challenges that don’t exist in a structured 9-5 job. Every day is different, some are full of clients and some are very scarce. I have networked to gain future clients and will always need to continue to search for potential new clients to gain as regular clients to keep the business running.
Please tell us about Alec’s Dog Walking Services.
My business is pet care anywhere from dog walking to housesits to driving pets to and from the groomers. I am mostly known for dog walks and being very communicative with my clients by sending them updates after each walk and responding to text or phone calls in a very quick manner. I am most proud that I get to spend my entire day with dogs taking them out on their most happy time of day.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood was playing outside with my brothers and friends every day after school. We would play made up games and some sports. There was always a dog present.
