Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Salazar.
Alexander, Harvard Graduate and well-respected International Art Dealer, opened Alexander Salazar Fine Art in March 2010 in Downtown San Diego. – He holds a Master’s Degree in Theology and Art from Harvard University and a second Masters in Sociology and Art from Boston College. While an undergraduate at the Colorado College he lived in London to study Modern and Contemporary Art and then moved to Florence Italy to study Masters such at Bernini and Botticelli. With over 15 years’ experience as an Art Dealer, Alexander Salazar has built private and corporate collections worldwide. Specialties Corporate Art Collections, Hotel Art Collections, Art Appraisals, Art Investments, Private Collectors, Young Collectors.
Please tell us about your art.
I have been painting (i.e. making a mess) since I was a kid in Houston Texas. The paintings in my IMPACT SERIES are the works that give me the most pleasure. Placing multiple canvases on the floor of my studio, I am able to work on a few works at one time. I basically power throw paint, lots of paint, on the canvas and let the splatters reach as far as possible. The “Impact” itself is what I release as an artist – it’s my tension, my anxiety, my total exhausted self – poured onto the canvas.
I hope that my art lets the viewers senses either relax or wake up. Color of course, or lack of color is my driving force.
We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
Art is very personal – such is the artist life – very personal. I think I create my best works when I am lonely.
I say the best way to connect with other artists is to support them by attending their art events.

I exhibit my works at various business all around San Diego such at FIT Athletic Gyms and of course in my gallery Alexander Salazar Fine Art.
