Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Marie Evans.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’ve always loved photography – ever since I could remember! All my friends knew me as the camera girl. My camera then definitely wasn’t the camera I have now. Then, it was a simple point and shoot to capture all the memories being made around me with family and friends. Mostly, my grandparents. I wanted to document every moment spent with them and the family that surrounds them. Not only for me but for them and the rest of my family as well.
I never took a class for photography/studied photography in school, nor was I in yearbook in high school, college, etc. I just always had a love for making time stand still. All jobs I had previously never felt right. I was content but not fulfilled. I knew there was something more for me to do in this life!
After lots of encouragement from my husband, friends & family I just went for it and pursued my passion full force. No, it wasn’t easy – nothing is! But it was 100% WORTH IT. I never knew I could turn my “hobby”, my true passion, into a full-blown business. For me, being a traveling wedding photographer, it’s all my dreams come true.
Please tell us about your art.
I’m a traveling wedding photographer based in Southern CA! I specialize in wedding, elopements, and couples. My photos are more than just pretty pictures, they’re someone’s memories, experiences, moments, & feelings. To capture their memories, experiences, moments + feelings to have, to hold & look back on for years to come… that’s why I do what I do! It’s the greatest honor to be invited into my client’s lives and be trusted in such big way.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
Biggest challenge: Doubt! I know other photographers can relate to this. It’s so easy to second guess yourself/start to doubt yourself. Especially with social media. My advice is to ALWAYS be yourself and keep doing what you’re doing and what feels right in your heart!
