Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Kelley.
Amber, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My love affair with hair started when I was very young. I started styling hair and doing makeup for friends in elementary school and knew that becoming a stylist was the path I wanted to take. Right after I graduated high school I moved from Temecula to San Diego and went to beauty school at Paul Mitchell the school. I have been trained by and worked beside some of the top educators in the industry and become an educator myself.
I have styled hair for New York fashion week, San Diego Charger girls and countless photo shoots. Now 13 years into my Profession I specialize in Color, Balayage and soft, romantic, bohemian wedding styling. Always staying educated and current with the newest trends
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have to say nothing good comes easy, you have to work hard. Being a Stylist means always being on, even on your days off. That can be exhausting. You are selling something… yourself/your craft. You have to have hair styled and makeup done anytime you leave the house. We as stylist don’t get a clientele just handed to us we have to hustle for it, meaning long hours of standing on our feet all day and always putting yourself out there to meet new potential clients and of course giving your 100% best to your clients you already have.

Balayage and styling are my specialties. I think what sets me apart is my ability to get in there and get the job done and allow my clients and myself to have fun while doing it.
What were you like growing up?
I have always been a go-getter even at a very young age and have loved being in a social setting. My hands have always been my greatest tool so it made so much sense for me to work with my hands and get to be around people all day.
