Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Williamson.
Amy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My Surf Story — Amy Williamson, Founder of Sea Love Surf
My journey with the ocean began as a young girl growing up on the California coast, where surfing quickly became more than just a sport—it became my sanctuary, my teacher, and my lifelong passion. Over the years, surfing shaped who I am, guiding me through life’s challenges and teaching me lessons about flow, resilience, and connection.
After many years as a professional surfer and coach, I began to see that surfing could be so much more than technique or performance—it could be a pathway to healing and empowerment. That realization inspired me to create Sea Love Surf, a space where I could share not only the skills of surfing, but also the mindset, spirituality, and holistic health practices that support it.
Today, through Sea Love Surf, I coach women of all levels to build confidence in the water and in themselves. My approach blends surf coaching with mindfulness, breathwork, fitness, and ocean awareness—helping each student connect more deeply with their body, the sea, and their own inner flow.
This business has evolved from my own personal journey—one of growth, soul, and a deep love for the ocean. Sea Love Surf is where I get to live my purpose: helping others find joy, strength, and peace through the waves.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. There have been plenty of bumps along the way. I’ve had several injuries that kept me out of the water for years at a time, and becoming a new mom brought its own challenges — I often felt like there just wasn’t enough time or energy to surf the way my heart wanted to. There were seasons when I completely lost the drive, when the ocean felt far away, even though it was always calling.
But somehow, I always found my way back. Every setback taught me something — patience, humility, and a deeper love for the process. Now, after 36 years of surfing, I can honestly say I have as much joy and gratitude for it as I did when I was that little girl first learning to stand up on a wave.
All of those detours have made me who I am. They taught me the value of showing up — through injury, through motherhood, through life’s shifts — and continuing to make space for what lights me up. Surfing is no longer just something I do; it’s become my full-time joyful creation, the place where my passion and my purpose meet. Through Sea Love Surf, I get to share that love, resilience, and magic with others — and it feels like the greatest gift of all.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Sea Love Surf is my heart and soul — it’s where surfing meets self-discovery, and where women come to reconnect with the ocean, their confidence, and their own inner flow.
I offer personalized surf coaching for surf enthusiasts looking to refine their style, techniques, and ocean knowledge. Beginner and intermediate surf lessons. As well as a surf-based wellness coaching that blends surf technique, mindfulness, breathwork, and holistic health. My approach goes beyond just teaching people how to catch waves — it’s about helping them feel grounded, strong, and fully alive in the water and in life.
What sets Sea Love Surf apart is the energy behind it. It’s not just about performance or chasing perfect conditions; it’s about presence, connection, and the deeper lessons the ocean has to teach us. Every session is rooted in intention — creating a safe, inspiring space where women can grow, heal, and rediscover their power through surfing.
I’m most proud of how the brand has stayed true to its essence: soulful, heart-led, and connected to nature. Sea Love Surf represents freedom, empowerment, and the reminder that joy and flow are always available when we align with what we love.
For me, this isn’t just a business — it’s a calling. I want people to know that surfing can be a doorway to transformation, and that Sea Love Surf exists to guide that journey — through waves, breath, movement, and love for the sea.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about this city is its incredible mix of nature and culture — the way you can surf in the morning, be in the mountains by afternoon, and watch the sunset in the desert all in one day. The weather is beautiful year-round, and I love the diversity — the people, the food, the energy. There’s so much opportunity here, and of course, the coastline… endless beaches, surf breaks for every style, and that golden light that never gets old.
What I like least is how dense it’s become. The crowds, the traffic, and which can sometimes make people feel more closed off or hurried. There’s also the pollution — it’s hard to see such a beautiful place affected by that. But even with those challenges, I still feel deep gratitude to live here and call this coastline home.
