I bought Fiji back in 2018. It was a neighborhood staple and I wanted to keep it that way. I didn’t know anything about this type of business, but with the help of so many others, I have learned so much. The community is full if great people.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth ride at all. I have had to learn how the machines work. Hiring employees and training is always difficult. Learning social media and marketing had been extremely challenging for me. Something that I have still yet to master. The business really challenges my organizational skills as well.
Fiji Yogurt – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a Frozen Yogurt dessert shop. We offer some of the most unique flavors in froyo because we make some of our selections in house. We also offer toppings that no other froyo spot has. People are always impressed with our melted PB and Nutella. We are always trying to keep things interesting. We are really proud to be an independent3owned froyo shop.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Who doesn’t like the weather, of course. I also enjoy the ease of the city. Coming from Chicago, SD is really laid back. San Diegans really support local business which is great. It a big city with a small city vibe. I do wish there were more independent businesses in the city. More independent restaurant and neighborhood grocery stores.
