Meet Ann Marx of Amarx Search

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ann Marx.

Ann, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a woman-owned small business.

I love working with people, I come from a theater background so speech is natural for me…

Making good marriages between people and companies is a delight to me. I never tire of making that wonderful match and have been doing so for over 25 years. I started doing just that—making what we call permanent placements, though we know nothing is permanent today. We have expanded to include contract labor and now cover the entire country when asked. Of course, CA is our preference.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been mostly, though 9/11 had a tremendous impact on the search business. There have always been the ups and downs, that’s just life, but loving what I do has always carried me through. I’ve been very lucky, getting to work with the best companies, the finest managers. Even when there’s a tough day, it seems the next day something great happens!

Please tell us about Amarx Search.
We started specializing in IT placements but today, everything is so global, we have to go with the flow! We can search for just about anything within our insurance limits. In addition to IT, we place a good deal in financial and marketing positions. I’ve been told by many managers that we always send them exactly what they ask for, where as they receive so many useless resumes from other sources. It’s because we screen our candidates very very carefully.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania with lots of loving relatives and friends.
