Meet Anri Rogers of My Empowerment of Women (M.E.O.W.)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anri Rogers.

Hi Anri , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My Empowerment of Women (M.E.O.W.) started from our desire to connect to other young professional women in San Diego. When the world shut down in 2020, Anri felt disconnected from society. So, she began to invite friends and ladies that we would meet in the social scene to connect at her house on the first of every month.

We are passionate about empowering women, celebrating successes, and creating community. We’ve grown so much as leaders. Our meetups began as themed gatherings where we would connect on a specific topic or theme of discussion. We are now working with other women to create themed events . We now have a network of 300 local San Diego Women and have met so many wonderful creative ladies who are following their passions.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The hardest part for us has been finding locations to host our events. This project has evolved on its own. We both have been pleasantly surprised at how much people are looking for experiences that bring community and connection. We keep going because of the happiness it brings us to connect other women to each other. We are learning as we go, and through trial and error, our events and podcasts have evolved and are still evolving. We believe that when you’re passionate about a specific goal or creative endeavor, keep going and remember the core reasons why you began the project in the first place. If you keep believing in your mission and it brings you joy, keep going and know that everything takes time. Consistency is key, and with just the love and desire to make a difference, eventually, everything will fall into place.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about My Empowerment of Women (M.E.O.W.)?
My Empowerment of Women is a Monthly Meetup Group aimed to highlight women entrepreneurs & creatives while we create safe spaces to create community and connection. We have created a bi-weekly podcast focused on advocating self-love, self-development, and mental health. We aim to inspire all women to go on that journey of self-discovery and show how we can support one another.

Our multicultural connection sets us apart, which helps us connect with all kinds of women. Anri was born in Japan. We bring different perspectives from different cultures that create diverse conversations. We welcome women from all backgrounds but feel very proud to have made this group, with both of us coming from such different upbringings.

We want to keep growing our network and continue working with others looking to inspire and spread love and positivity. If you’re in the San Diego Area and looking to join or lead one of our meetups, reach out to us on Instagram @my_empowerment_of_women

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
Risk for us is necessary to make significant changes in our lives. One of our main messages in M.E.O.W. and what we encourage all the women who come across our network is to be brave. We can’t make meaningful changes without risking our comfort zones and stepping into the unknown. When we started the M.E.O.W meetups, we took a risk and just hoped that other women wanted to join us and connect. Two years later, we are so grateful that we took the chance because we have connected with many everyday local women who inspire us to follow our passions. We took a risk when we started our podcast—sharing our voice, stories, and the stories of many other women who are being brave and stepping into their power. It has been a beautiful journey. We have grown so much and can’t wait to see all we create as we continue to evolve and take necessary risks as they show up in the development of our network/brand.
