Today we’d like to introduce you to April Bay.
April, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Raised in Southern California. I got scouted by an agent at the age of seven while attending a talent agency Christmas party. I was there because my cousin was a child actor who was represented by the agency. I had a few commercial gigs and also appeared in various tv sitcoms. I stopped at the age of nine and sometimes regret it. It wasn’t until years later, I was bit by the acting bug again and decided to take drama classes in Mesa college. Got a few more gigs, then found my calling as a model. Then from modeling went to beauty pageant queen. But such is life, I met my soulmate and got married. Long story short- we now have two wonderful kids, and are actually in the process of starting our own media and production company. I decided to put my passion and skills for acting and filmmaking together to start a very niche business. My husband is a photographer. I model/act/write/and edit videos. I have also been featured on the cover of a few fashion magazines. And excited to be featured amongst hundreds of other women -in a magazine that you can pick up at your local Barnes & Noble in October. The magazine is called “Pinay Magazine”. Which will have a billboard in the LAX area of Los Angeles, Ca featuring yours truly. Suffice to say-I’m content with where things are in my life. Everything is now a family act. I turned my modeling skills into being an influencer online. So, I can have a job while still staying put at home with my kids. My children are the most important part of my life. I love them so much. I’ve also dedicated a children’s book I wrote FOR them, “Mama Bug”, which is now published.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life isn’t perfect. What people see on social media can be very deceiving. I’ve been diagnosed with an auto immune condition that causes chronic pain throughout my body. I’ve only shared about it a few times on my social media profiles but have never been in depth. People see the smiles, the trips, the accomplishments, but they don’t see the pain. Or if they read my post about it, just know about it vaguely. When I pursue something, I really have to put all of my energy into it. Sometimes I have very little. But the drive that I have to achieve things in life has been a helpful boost.
BayHom Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
BayHom productions is a media and production company. We specialize in photography, video, and talent. What sets us apart from other media companies is that we are a two in one. We provide talent and content-as well as post production options.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have many proud moments. But my favorite of all is finally finding my/our niche in the entertainments business. Which allows us to stay close to our children while doing our job. Which is really awesome!
