Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Gill and Lael Barry.
Ashley and Lael, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We were introduced by a mutual and respected mentor, who saw a common vision in our business missions. Our mission collectively is to elevate the standards of education in the beauty industry and create a community of positive, passionate, hairdressers. Ashley, the founder of Fibre, created her space as a education venue and salon space focused on supporting the professional growth of independent educators and hairdressers. She offers them both a creative venue for servicing their clientele as well as hosting their education, opening the doors for anyone globally to access. Lael, the founder of VenuEDU, is passionate about making quality education accessible and has a vision for continued education to be a standard for all beauty professionals. Together, they can reach and provide a physical space for their San Diego community.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every new adventure, business or personal, comes with obstacles. We feel like we are trailblazing a new path in our industry for education as well as supporting the growing independent and constantly evolving beauty industry. It’s challenging but our passion and WHY keeps us motivated and pushing onward.

We are proud to offer our industry something different in terms of accessing and providing education in a co-working salon space. Unlike salon suites, you can be an independent brand while maintaining the community of a salon space. We also bring together online platform access to vetted, quality, education.
What were you like growing up?
One of the many things we love about San Diego is the concentration of highly motivated independent entrepreneurs on a mission to constantly improve and evolve.
