Meet Ashley Rawlins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Rawlins.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The desire to be a lawyer was there since my early childhood, about age six. Despite not having any family members as attorneys, I always had a passion for arguing (ask my parents), to prove a point, to fight for the underdog, to do what is right and to seek justice. The road to being a lawyer is long, laborious, and mine was filled with many challenges, disappointments, failures, triumphs, smiles, tears, but that is what makes the journey worthwhile.

I love people, am very ongoing, talkative, social, and just a people person. Initially, I desired to do criminal law because I am fascinated about the criminal mind, forensics, and science. I had a mentor, Paul Caccaviello, back in the small Western Mass town where I grew up-he was the Assistant District Attorney and was brilliant, articulate, well-spoken and an amazing advocate. The way he presented and told a story solidified my desire to be a trial lawyer. I had interned and worked in numerous areas in Massachusetts: civil litigation, criminal, real estate, and trusts/estates. After moving across the country to California and passing the bar examination, I was open to a few different areas of law.

My first job as an attorney was with a personal injury firm. I had prior experience in personal injury and civil litigation. The nature of the practice came naturally to me. I loved being able to help people during a difficult time in their lives, I enjoyed the interaction with clients while being able to advocate and fight for justice for those who are the underdogs and don’t have a voice against the big insurance companies. I had always wanted to start my own practice, so I decided to take the leap of faith and pursue my God-given dream. My husband and I prayed, gave it to God, and from there, Rawlins Law was born. I believe that I was created to help others not only in life but in law, which is why my mission and goal is to help as many injured people as possible. Branding your business is a whole chapter in the book, but for me, I wanted my brand, logo, what I stand for to have meaning individualized to my life and myself. The logo originated from a saying from one of my favorite teachers and greatest influences in my life, Mr. James Duquette. He would always say, “Ride your tigers, or they will eat you up,” meaning to pursue your dreams, do what you love, and go for it! There are so many core values, phrases, philosophies that ran through my mind when starting Rawlins Law, but I wanted to select a bible verse to build the business upon.

My reasoning for this is because I am nothing without God, but also to constantly remind myself of the reason behind the why. After some searching, I decided on Micah 6:8, which states, “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” It is the foundation of Rawlins Law-to seek and pursue justice while acting justly. To love mercy-to have a heart of kindness, compassion and love, and to always remain humble. Having my own practice allows me to be able to make decisions on what cases to accept when to reduce my fees while being able to have freedom and flexibility to manage my own schedule. Today Rawlins Law consists of myself along with three team members. We have recovered millions of dollars for clients and continue to seek justice daily and help/serve as many people as possible!

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth roads don’t exist unless everything is handed to you in life. I am a firm believer that the obstacles, challenges, failures that you go through in life are not only some of the most important lessons you learn and value, but they are what makes you who you are. I have dealt with numerous struggles, endured some, conquered others, but without the bumps in the road, I would not be me or where I am today.

A couple of my favorite quotes which I use as reminders are: Fall down seven times, get up eight! Two roads diverged in a wood and I-I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference. – Robert Frost

Please tell us more about your practice.
I am an Injury/Accident Attorney or Personal Injury Attorney, which means that I handle any cases involving injuries: car accidents, truck accidents, bike accidents, pedestrian accidents, uber/lyft accidents, slip and falls, product liability, wrongful death cases. I am Car Crash Ash!

As a company, I am proud of what I built, proud to do what is right, to help people for a living and Micah 6:8. I give all my clients my cell phone number, I am personable, responsive and always available for my clients!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think the industry will continue to grow. One change that has been mentioned for a while is driverless cars, but I still think we are some time away from that. Even when they start entering the stream of commerce, I personally won’t trust them, but it will be interesting to see what the future holds.
