Today we’d like to introduce you to Augustus Wiesel.
MFI opened its doors in 1982. And thrived for many years as a small business specializing in certified used medical equipment sales. With the boom of e-commerce, the company experienced great growth. MFI, at times, had as few as 3 employees. In recent years the company has undergone a growth spurt from 7 employees in 2014 to 40 employees today.
The growth over the past three years has much to do with Augustus, who transitioned from his role in e-commerce at MFI to the company’s new CEO. He has taken the reins from his father, Arnold Wiesel, the company’s former president. Arnold has moved into an advisory role in purchasing as well as a prominent member of the board.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The transitions at MFI Medical, like any growing company, have experienced some growing pains. With its inception in the early 80’s transitioning MFI into a leading medical sales company in 2017 requires great changes. The company feels very fortunate to, as always, be family run, with a dedicated team of employees that support the company’s growth and employees that are passionate about customer satisfaction and ethical business practices.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the MFI Medical Equipment story. Tell us more about the business.
MFI Medical Equipment is an award-winning customer service oriented company dedicated to offering high-quality products at the best prices available. MFI continues to be a preferred trusted vendor to a range of hospitals, physicians, government entities, universities, individual patients, and all manner of customers. Our team is constantly expanding to bring our customers better service and more products to fit a range of needs. In addition to medical retail sales, MFI offers services including equipment calibration, repair, recycling, and more.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The role of luck has played a hand in our business in a good way. While MFI’s success as a company has come from the hard work of all our employees and leaders, luck has played a hand in bestowing us with a team of caring individuals willing to go above and beyond to fill our customers’ needs. This has lead the company to an astounding number of repeat and lifelong customers, which MFI is grateful for. Although it may seem that MFI Medical is very lucky to have such great success, we believe that the success of the company and its employees is earned by how diligently MFI works together as a team.
