Meet Banyon Bachman of San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Banyon Bachman.

Hi Banyon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been involved in music production for about 15 years now, but my journey with music started much earlier. I picked up the saxophone in elementary school and played all the way through graduation. During that time, I was deeply involved in music—playing in jazz bands, marching bands, and gigging with different groups. That foundation gave me a strong sense of musicality and discipline early on.

While still in school, I started exploring electronic music and hip hop production, which opened up a whole new world for me. I played in two different brass bands while studying at Berklee College of Music, and after that, I completed a certification program focused on music production and sound engineering.

One of the pivotal moments in my career was an internship at Phaser Control Recording Studios in San Diego under Nigel Dean. That experience really solidified my understanding of the production side of the industry. Around that time, I began working on a hip hop project for Riston Diggs, which ended up winning a San Diego Music Award for Best Hip Hop/Rap Album.

From there, my path naturally evolved toward the EDM and house music scene in San Diego and Los Angeles. I started performing throughout California and Arizona, and even made it out to Mexico last year. Over the years, I’ve worked across a wide range of EDM subgenres—from house and dubstep to drum and bass.

These days, I’m collaborating with artists across the country and performing all over the U.S. It’s been a long and evolving journey, but I’ve stayed focused on growing as a producer and staying connected to the roots of why I started making music in the first place.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has definitely been enjoyable, but it hasn’t always been smooth. Like most creatives, I’ve had my share of challenges—especially when it comes to time management. Juggling multiple projects, live shows, and the late nights that come with studio life can really take a toll. It’s a grind, and finding balance isn’t always easy.

But beyond the logistical challenges, one of the biggest struggles has been mental—learning how to stay true to myself creatively. In a scene that’s constantly evolving, it’s easy to overthink things or feel pressure to fit into a certain mold. That mindset can kill creativity if you let it. I’ve had to remind myself that my unique sound and perspective are what set me apart, and that trying to conform too much can dilute the magic.

Learning to trust my instincts and bring my own flavor to the table has been a process, but it’s also been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I primarily produce music and perform as a DJ. These days, I’m mostly active in the house music scene, but I also dive into drum and bass and dubstep when the vibe is right. Honestly, I don’t like to limit myself—if something feels good in the moment, I’ll create it. That freedom to explore different genres is what keeps the process fresh and exciting for me.

What I’m most proud of is staying true to myself and my beliefs, especially in an industry that can be chaotic and full of distractions. I never chase trends just to fit in. I make music that resonates with me, and I trust that the right people will connect with it.

What sets me apart, I think, is my energy and my mindset. I stay grounded, no matter the situation, and I really focus on creating the best possible product while keeping the process fun and authentic. I also specialize in helping bring other artists’ visions to life—from the first spark of an idea to a fully finished track. Whether I’m producing, co-writing, or just offering guidance, I’m there to help shape and support the creative process. I take pride in being someone that artists can trust and rely on—someone who will show up and help them find their voice through the music.

What matters most to you? Why?
The thing that matters most to me is the music—plain and simple. It’s the driving force behind everything I do. Without it, the world would be a very different place. Music has this unique ability to connect people, tell stories, and express what words alone sometimes can’t.

It’s easy to get caught up in the drama, the politics, and the ego that can come with being in the music scene. But at the end of the day, if everyone just stayed focused on the sound—on making something meaningful and true—I think the whole space would be a lot more grounded and a lot more inspiring.

Music is the foundation. It’s what brought us all here in the first place, and it’s what keeps me moving forward.
