Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Maisonet.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was at a crossroads in my career where I had to make a choice- get another 9-5 J.O.B. with a boss OR be my own boss where I got to choose my hours… I choose, at that point, to open my own Life & Business Coaching Company… I knew I wanted to work where I could stay home with my kids (I didn’t have any at the time but I knew how important it would be for when I did have kids so I decided then to start setting my life up to be in alignment with that intention).
How I got into coaching was I had friend who told me there was a profession out there (it was new at the time… this was 10 1/2yrs ago!) where one got paid to ask questions! I knew instantly that was a profession designed just for me… so I signed up for a year-long Coach’s training program and the rest is history.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t believe opening a business will ever be “smooth”… that’s part of the challenge and fun of opening a business! Facing all the challenges and obstacles head on and at the outcome, reflecting on what you learned in the process is all part of being a business owner.(And I wouldn’t trade it for the world!)
My biggest challenge was when I found myself to be a single mom, with a 1yr, after my husband decided to leave. That threw a kink in my plans… but because I was so committed to staying at home with my son while running my company, I made decisions that were ONLY in alignment with that goal… I found strength I didn’t realize I had and stayed open for business while raising my son at home… It was actually amazing because I found myself putting into practice the tools I offer my coaching clients so I became a “Practicer of what I Preach!”
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I offer Life Coaching and/or Business Coaching to individuals who are either business owners themselves, part of a company or just someone looking to elevate their life (in the areas of their life that aren’t working the way they want) to the next level.
What coaching looks like is a person comes to me ready for growth- either personally or professionally. Perhaps they are ready to rid themselves of some dis-empowering habits or want to fiercely improve their health or relationships. Or perhaps they are business owners who know it’s time to move their business up a notch by setting up or redesigning their systems or working on empowering their staff. Or an individual who holds a management position who knows they need guidance on how to become a more effective leader or desire more tools on how to navigate thru conflict management or the “politics” involved in upper management life.
Regardless of where a person is in life, my coaching services allow for each individual to acquire a coach who is committed to their growth success… which includes asking the tough questions, holding them accountable, cheering them on, and coming alongside them when faced with challenges… A coach is on their team and will guide them to new awareness’s about themselves and others so they can ONLY move forward and grow.
I’m most proud and what sets me apart is that I run a company from integrity – meaning I am purposeful to honor my word and the boundaries I set up while offering a customer experience where my clients feel safe to be who they are in this transformational process.
I’m a stickler for being where I say I’ll be and showing up to client calls on time and present and most importantly, following thru with what I say I’ll do. I strive to be a coach my clients can emphatically trust as they journey thru this process.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My most proudest moment is being asked to be on the radio… here locally in San Diego.
It was such a joy to be asked because they were recognizing servant leaders here in SD… and I hadn’t really considered myself one until they were gracious enough to have me on the radio show. And, it was just really fun to be a part of that whole experience!
