Since I was a little girl I dreamed of performing for people and giving them an experience/heart-felt connection they would not forget! Little did I know, it would not be in the form of just Song and Dance, but rather the Art of Hair! I was originally accepted into college for Musical Theater and Opera, however I decided to attend Beauty School and first obtain a skill. I never picked up a Curling Iron before Beauty school. It was a challenging time Mentally, Physically, and Emotionally. I would sing “Beauty School Stay-In”, as I pushed all the way through, becoming the first of my Beauty School class to graduate and obtain my Cosmetology license.
After school I landed an assisting job under the owner Autumn Houston of Autumn Houston the Salon in Little Italy. I have now been at Autumn Houston the Salon for 5 years and my world has been forever changed! I specialize in Hair Extensions and Blonding. I have learned the true meaning of heart-felt connection. Making someone’s confidence change within minutes/hours. To have the power to change, alter, or enhance someone is magical. I am especially passionate about Hair Extensions for this reason! I offer Hand-Tied and Tape In Extensions. It is the MOST instantly gratifying service you can offer. I have had clients cry because they have long/thick hair after chemo- therapy or for the wedding of their dreams. This industry is more then just Hair. It allows the client to be the Star of the Show and receive the confidence and genuine applaud for their own self!
Has it been a smooth road?
Honestly the Hair journey has been one of the most challenging/rewarding ventures I have ever experienced. The road was not completely smooth. Starting out is so intimidating! With practice came progress, not perfection. This was difficult for me. I am such a people pleaser. When someone with Jet Black hair came in wanting to be Platinum, I would be disappointed with the Brassy outcome. However the more I practiced, educated, and learned from thriving stylists around me, I became more confident in my craft. Knowledge is truly power in this industry. You become better ,the more you know and grow. Knowledge and practice has been the key to overcoming most obstacles and hardships in this career.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Bayrosehairflows story. Tell us more about the business.
Bayrosehairflows is my personal Brand and Business name. Bayrose is short for my name Baylie Rose, Hair for Hairstylist, and Flow meaning continuous abundance. I offer Hair Extensions, Specialized Color, and Precision Cuts for my guests. I specialize in Hair Extensions and Blonding, because it is the most Gratifying service! I offer a positive, kind, safe, and caring environment for my guests. I am all about the experience. From the moment you book an appointment to actually walking out the door with your Customized look, I want you to feel happy and gratified! I am most proud of staying committed to this career and my clients. Whether that be with continued education, a stellar head massage, or showing up on time. I wake up everyday ready to make someone Beautiful with a new look or a genuine compliment!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the Industry going back to the Earth! Using more Holistic Hair alternatives, recycling, and products that honor the Earth. I feel 2020 has shifted a whole new perspective on health and taking care of our bodies from the inside out! Personally I would love to start incorporating this into my business, once I can find products that can sustain and produce promising results!
