Today we’d like to introduce you to Becky Cleveland.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been an artsy/creative person growing up. But I really started my love for photography and art when I enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps in 2014 as a Combat Photographer. I have learned studio photography, aerial photography, portrait photography, and landscape. It’s unquestionably something you have to have a special eye for. Photography is a passion. You’re able to connect with people on a whole different level and make them feel beautiful. One thing I say quite often about art is that it is meant to make you feel something. If you can make someone feel something through your art, then you are creating something brilliant. When I realized I loved making an impression on people, I started freelancing on my off time and then collapsing with other local creatives. Which brings me to where I am today, still in love with this art and continuing it.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With photography and just art in general, it’s YOUR art and understanding that not everyone is going to appreciate it is hard and demotivating. Disappointing others is something I struggle with most definitely.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a photographer in Southern California. I specialize in creative portraits because with photography such as this it allows someone to express their true personality.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being a part of a creative social event to empower women and having the event go exactly as planned was a huge accomplishment and a check in the box. So many beautiful models, photographers, vendors, and supporters came out and it was amazing.
