Meet Berta Artigal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Berta Artigal.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born in 1990 in Tarragona, Spain. I have always liked to draw and fill everything with color. I studied illustration and graphic design in the art school, and I did a postgraduate in creative illustration in Barcelona.

Currently, I work as an independent artist in several illustration projects (children’s books, posters, prints, packages …) in my own projects and paintings. And I also teach art for children and young people. I recently entered the world of mural painting, and it is something I love, I like to see my drawings on a large scale as a part and decorate a space, where they interact with people.

In recent months I have been painting the walls of a hostel in Berlin, and it has been an experience and a very rewarding job. I love nature, travel and discover new places, unicorns, and second-hand markets.

Please tell us about your art.
I love trying different techniques and supports (from fans, antique furniture, wood, glass, walls ..) experiment with different materials. The techniques that I use the most are the ink for my black and white illustrations
or watercolors and acrylic paint for my paintings.

I am very inspired by nature, travel, fantasy, dreams … and I try to get my inner world out. I would love to transmit good vibrations with my works, that bring life and positive energies. I also use my art to claim themes such as feminism or shout against animal abuse for example.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I think being an artist and wanting to live from him is an adventure and a challenge in itself. Not having a fixed salary every month and having to look for new feats and projects can always be a lot of fun while getting tired. Staying firm and following can sometimes be a challenge. But I think that little by little, with passion and work, everything can be achieved, I think it’s a long distance race.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can see my work in the form of illustrations for children’s books, in exhibitions, in murals… You can also follow me on my social networks (Instagram, Facebook) and they can support my art by buying some of my works or hiring me for a project.
