Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie and Ronni Haragos.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2012, with years of nursing experience, Bonnie Haragos, the C.E.O. of Affirmative Home Care started the agency with one goal in mind… To provide client centered care at a reasonable price while setting the new standard for in-home care. Since the start, our clients’ dignity, safety, and overall quality of life have been prioritized as the most important part of our agency. Our goal has been to retain and train only the highest quality staff so that we can then pass on that same excellent quality of care to all of our clients. I think the major reason that we have been so successful in our first few years is that we truly care. We take pride in being able to staff cases based on matching the compatibility of our employees and clients, and find that in the long run, the client having a caregiver and ultimately a friend to trust in during their most vulnerable time, ultimately makes all the difference in the clients care.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The reward of being known for setting the standard for in-home care would not be as sweet if we did not have a few struggles along the way. We truly believe that timing and luck play a huge part of the reason why we are here and thriving today. But by no means are we saying we were just lucky, oh no. We worked hard from the beginning and continue to work hard every single day. We are constantly trying to reevaluate the ways we are structuring care plans, constantly implementing new techniques that are successful, and slowly overturning the procedures that just don’t cut it anymore. At the heart of everything we do at Affirmative Home Care, ultimately what it comes down to is that we tend to get “lucky” all the time because we are consistently prepared to accept the good luck when it is presented. We structure ourselves to be ready for the next big break and always have a backup plan in place, just in case. So has it been a smooth road? Somewhat, but only after experiencing some difficulty at the beginning and buying a brand new 4×4 car to prepare us for the unknown road ahead! We definitely had some learning lessons along the way that has taught us to be prepared for all different terrains, so now we are! 😉
