Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Watson.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
For me and the love of music started when I was in 5th grade, and I see a Lil bow wow video and I can remember telling my mom I wanted to rap and get girls, from that grew into a love and passion I developed for music from writing raps in church freestyling, and rapping with my older brother friends, I did my first talent show at 6th grade camp and completely choked the worst feeling ever but I redeemed myself at my talent show at my elementary school, being on stage doing something that I love instantly knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Fast forward to 2014 when I dropped my first project titled “minivans” which are thoughts and emotions of being a young father that I experienced something I call “life raps”, that tape pushed me to the front of the music scene in the city doing a lot of shows gaining love and respect from the city and fellow artist it was a great feeling, but with all that came the negative, drugs girls and losing focus and the love for music, I ended up leaving to Humboldt for a couple of months to trim weed and to get away from the problems and things that were holding me back from being at my higher self, it was a much needed experience and I”m happy that I took that journey I always say that time away saved me, now I”m a proud dad of two beautiful daughters loving life and getting ready to drop my second project titled “Do I look high ?” just me explaining my departure my feelings and things I was going through with life relationships and being lost. I’m stoked for everything I”m happy to release new music thankful for all the supporters that stayed down they deserve it. I’m grateful for life and where I’m at love and peace always give thanks.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being able to stay focus was one of my biggest struggles, having the right people around me people that love me and want me to better, I was in a bad circle at the time when I was going through my problems, Now I know that is key for you as a person its important because without that there is no way you can succeed.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I played sports from Baseball, Basketball. Football and, Golf. I was always active, I grew up in a loving home with my mom and pops and my older brother, my mom is a really loving and sweet, so I guess I took that from her when I was young I was always making sure everyone was happy and taken care of, I enjoyed my friends but I always liked my alone time, my brother introduced me to a lot of cool music that shaped me into the person I am today I enjoyed writing in elementary school I was really big on Captain Underpants and I had a friend named Jamel and we were the two that always got in trouble so we had to always set in the back of the class facing the other way lol and to pass the time we use to write little comic books and make copies and put them in the little Library we had in our class, it was cool I think my mom might have some put away somewhere.
