Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Hook.
Brian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story started a long time ago. As a freshman in the year 1984, I attended a hypnotist show at my high school. I was fascinated what people did while hypnotized. It was then I said one day I will learn to do this. In 1986, when I got my first job in fast food making a hefty hourly wage of $4.25 per hour, I knew in my heart I was meant for more but didn’t know how. I happen to be thumbing through the yellow pages book, I came across the ad for hypnotherapy school. I called and asked if the hypnotherapy was the same as stage hypnosis as I was only interested in the fun aspect of comedy hypnosis as what I had witnessed. I was told yes, the only difference is you hypnotize several people at once in a confined time frame. I signed up for the class. Not caring why it worked on people, only caring what I needed to do to get people in trance and followed the instructions given me. Shortly after 100 hours, I was able to apply and test for being a certified master hypnotist through the Hypnotist Examining Council in Glendale, CA. Keep in mind, I was only 16 yrs. old at the time. The youngest hypnotist in history!!!
After completing the schooling and the teacher knowing I wanted to do the entertainment part of hypnosis, mentioned I should contact a hypnotist that was performing locally at a restaurant bar in La Jolla, CA by the name of Marshall Sylver. I called and he sent tickets to see his show at a laugh stop comedy club in Newport, CA. I not only attended but volunteered for the show. After the show, I introduced myself and what I wanted to accomplish. It was about a month later I received a call from Marshall himself and he asked if I wanted to work for him as an assistant and protege. I jumped at the chance. I worked for him for 3 months, but during that time my grades in school suffered so gave him notice I couldn’t continue. He knew I also wanted to perform and later would give me the advice to get started. His help got me in performing at the San Diego USO. from there, I pushed and struggled to get shows.
In that time, I booked colleges, high schools, company parties and many other venues. I even landed a spot on the tv reality show “blind Date”. During all this time, no one could tell me how to move further so many times it has been a horrific struggle. What I learned is it doesn’t matter how you get to your goal, but that you never let go of your dream and you persist and keep your dream alive in your mind, NO MATTER WHATEVER ANYONE ELSE SAYS. If you believe in yourself, so will others. How else would a 16-year-old get others to believe he was “the most powerful hypnotist in the world? Keep in mind at age 16 when I booked a show, I was earning $300 a show for a 1-hour performance. As yourself, how many kids at age 16 are making $300 per hour?
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been extremely hard. Competition has not revealed how to book non stop shows and much of my struggle was trial and error. The key to my success has been the belief in my self, a supportive set of parents that believed in me and my goals, and the determination that I will NOT BE DENIED MY GOD GIVEN TALENT. Many doors get slammed in my face, but I continued to push forward in the hopes something will open and I will rocket to stardom and be discovered by a hollywood agent and finally be recognized worldwide.
Please tell us about Brian Hook Enterprises.
My company is Brian Hook Enterprises. It started out as Hook Hypnotic Enterprises. I specialize in comedy stage hypnosis. I give many demonstrations for free. I do seminars utilizing the Hypnotic Law of Attraction to help students, business people and many others who dream of something and can achieve it against all odds. I offer free comedy hypnosis shows for high school grad nights and proms for schools in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Bernadino and Riverside, CA. They receive a comedy show but in addition a post-hypnotic suggestion for improving grades, memory and achieving their full potential towards their own goal, whatever it is. They see in their mind already achieving what they want.
What sets me apart from others… I have been performing hypnosis since the age of 16. Ask yourself, would you allow a 16 yr. old kid to hypnotize you. I achieved this against all opposition because I believed in myself. Never give up or into others believe in yourself.
So, if you want a great hypnosis clean comedy show at a high school or college or shopping mall, give me a call. If you want to stop smoking or lose weight, I will offer my services for free, just has to be a large function and advertised for doing it at a LARGE SHOPPING MALL. I am eager to help, so contact me.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Not sure how but would just persist, keep my dream solid in my mind. and not let anyone discourage me. No Matter What. I would have put even more effort than what I use to.
