Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Higareda.
Briana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was a kid, I found writing as a form of expressing myself, I use to read the little stories from the book The Chicken Soup for the Soul, and I use to make my own little scenarios on a piece of paper. Throughout the years, I continued to write, but instead, I would write about my feelings, what I was hoping I would see in the future, and just express myself. I use to struggle with speaking about my problems but I always found writing a tool for me. It wasn’t until I faced difficulties in my life, family, friends, love life that I began to really write and almost shocked me of what I would write. Still, no one knew that writing was my passion and that I had 300 notes in my phone full of writing. In the year 2018, I had to learn to take care of myself for my health. I began to self-care and make myself happy. During this time, I formed strong and positive relationships with a couple of people in my life, who was also on the same journey. Many of them would tell me how I inspired them to keep going, to be strong, to love themselves, and be courageous. We were all on the journey of learning to love ourselves, being positive, making ourselves happy, and finding our purpose. That’s when I realized that my purpose in life was to write in a way to help someone. I began to read more books as well as listen to Liz Hernadez’s Wordaful. Liz Hernadez was someone I looked up to for many years and listening more to her videos on Wordaful inspired me to get out of my comfort. When I started my blog, I knew I wanted to write to inspire, that’s when I decided to call it Read If You Need. I published my blog to the public in January 2019. I started with a couple of posts that helped me get through certain situations. When I had first posted it out, I felt nervous but relieved. I didn’t expect much but I knew I was going to do something with this blog. Life of Bee today has been read, as I really don’t expect to gain anything from the blog but love, positivity, and happiness. Today I want to continue writing, I’m not sure where the road will take me, but I do plan to continue Life of Bee.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not in any way is it easy, I face struggles here and there. I like to say I’m not perfect, but I’m a work in progress. I am grateful and extremely blessed and I don’t allow for my challenges to take over me anymore, I allow them to push me and work harder. A challenge I am learning is balance. Balancing school, from work to my needs and taking care of myself and what truly matters to me. I’m learning to take it at a step at a time, there’s no rush. Besides struggles and problems are always going to come, but the way I look at it is what allows me to keep calm.
Lifeofbee – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My blog is an open place, for anyone who wishes to read about finding self-love, happiness, positivity, and how to focus on what matters most. I want to push and inspire others to help themselves out. I opened it for males/females and any age groups because I know that challenges aren’t only faced to certain people but everyone. I’m known for my laugh, my sarcasm, smile, and positivity in which I try to add in my posts. I want people to connect with this, to learn that it’s okay to be hurt and it’s fine to struggle, but it’s about what we have ahead of us that we are to be faced with. I am proud of myself most importantly for being courageous and putting myself out there, I’m also proud of the people who have messaged me to connect. I’m proud of what the blog has done to inspire others to find their purpose. I have been able to connect with new and different people and I truly find that amazing.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is the accomplishment one finds in themselves, it can be through anything as long as it fulfills someone. I don’t believe that success comes in a time limit, we all describe success differently and we all succeed in different ways. I have people around me who felt successful when they started a business, graduated from college, moved away, had a child, etc. That is how I look at success, an accomplishment to oneself.
