Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Holden.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I found a love for photography back in 2010. I didn’t know that a hobby I enjoyed years ago would become a passion I cannot imagine my life without now. About a year ago I decided that I was going to go after my goals without fear and without mercy. My husband was deployed, and I have two little boys I was raising while he was away. Balancing all of that at once was the biggest challenge of my life, but it pushed me to story-tell through my photos. The bad days, the anxiety, and of course the beautiful ones.
Please tell us about your art.
Believe it or not, most of my conceptual photography comes to me while I have anxiety attacks. What can be a source of great frustration can also help me come up with some of my most favorite images. I hope when people look at my work they can see the story I am trying to tell that they find something beautiful or sad in it, that it evokes emotions.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I find so many inspirational images from all over. National Geographic photographers taking portraits of these incredible people from hidden villages and their beautifully weathered eyes and skin… they are so powerful.
Also, I am inspired to work with women. All of my clients and models have a story, and I love trying to show a personal piece of their journey in any session I take.
