Meet Brittany Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Brown.

Brittany, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I became inspired to pursue makeup from my sister. It all started when I would go to her makeup school and be her model. From much observation from being her model multiple times, I fell in love with the craft. I would ask my sister all of the questions you can think of about makeup application and she could see that I had a passion for makeup as well. I decided that I wanted to go and tour the makeup school she attended. I went to the same school for my education which was the Empire Academy of Makeup in Orange County.

I began my journey here, learning all the key information I would need to be successful as a makeup artist. While attending school I acquired a freelance makeup artist position with NARS cosmetics. I always loved the brand…can’t go a day without my radiant creamy concealer! I learned how to apply makeup on all different skin tones and races at a rapid speed. While freelancing I met so many wonderful, inspiring, powerful women who became my clients as well. What I cherish in my career as a makeup artist is having the opportunity to work with my sister. We are an amazing team and have grown together over the years.

I am now almost six years into my career as a makeup artist! I love meeting and connecting with different people. I’m such a people person and I vibe off of others! It’s my overall goal to make anyone who sits in my chair feel comfortable and beautiful. I love to enhance natural beauty on everyone and teach little tips and tricks along the way. I work on bridal, production, campaigns, print and event makeup. My job can be different depending on the day but it keeps you on your toes and that makes it so exciting. One thing that remains consistent through it all is my passion for makeup artistry! xo BB.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being a freelance artist isn’t always easy. I’ve had to stay on my toes and hustle. Even on your days off, you need to work to generate more work in the future. Life of an entrepreneur is never complete, I am motivated to do well and push myself to be the best I can be.

Please tell us about your work.
I specialize in corrective beauty makeup, bridal makeup, mature makeup and print makeup. I focus on enhancing and creating soft shadows, subtle highlights and almond shaped eyes on all my clients. This is corrective beauty makeup which I don’t even think about when I apply I just do it. Little subtle changes on the skin can be very powerful. I’m known for my soft natural beauty look. I focus on giving everyone beautiful glowing skin and a warm bronzed contour. I also love to do mature makeup. I love to make moms, aunts, grandmas…etc feel beautiful and special as well. With my light application, I always have my clients leaving with a smile on their face. I love to work with and collaborate with my clients as well, combining our ideas, creating the most beautiful customized look.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m looking forward to 2020! I do have some plans up my sleeve but you will have to stay in touch with me to see what is to come!
