Brittany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my career in the auto industry here in San Diego, just over 18 years ago. During my career, I successfully worked my way up the ranks to reach finance and sales management roles with a local auto group until accepting the opportunity to become a partner and general manager of automotive franchise. Throughout my career as an automotive insider, I questioned the process that put consumers at a disadvantage when trying to sell their cars. This prompted me to find a way to change that. As founder of Driveway Auction, I am able to place the consumers in the driver’s seat so that they can sell their cars for the best price in the shortest amount of time.
Has it been a smooth road?
The greatest challenge in founding Driveway Auction has been coming up with a clear and understandable way to tell people how Driveway Auction will help them. For an individual who is not in the auto industry, Driveway Auction has turned the process of selling their car upside down—in their favor. But most people don’t believe it until we show them and once they understand it, many refer their friends and give us a 5-star rating on Yelp. Even though our concept is a game changer for consumers, thousands of people are missing out every day when they either do not know about Driveway Auction or do not understand what we do.

I like to say that Driveway Auction takes the hassle out of the traditional way of selling your vehicle, but its more than that. Driveway Auction is your agent, and we are here to help you sell your car quickly, for a reasonable price and without the hassle. We believe that most people do not like to deal with car dealers because they have been hassled by a car dealer in the past.
When walking into a dealership to sell your car, the dealer may not want your specific model and will often make a lowball offer. A consumer walking in off the street won’t understand why the offer was so low and either resign themselves to getting less than their vehicle is worth or get angry. When privately selling your car to find a qualified buyer you will have to make phone calls, schedule showings, go on test drives with strangers, navigate the DMV process, figure out how to transfer title, and more. It can be a nightmare.
With Driveway Auction we provide car sellers with unbiased information and market data. We actually come to you! Our certified vehicle inspectors measure and capture true condition ratings of your vehicle with a comprehensive 20-30 minute inspection. Once you have reviewed the data and approved your listing, we send your vehicle information to our network of dealers (34 and growing throughout San Diego County) who bid against each other. Once you accept the winning bid simply drive to the dealer and get paid.

I love living in San Diego County. I recently moved to Carlsbad and connected with our executive team. San Diego is not only home to Driveway Auction, but also to a growing ecosystem of technology companies, making it a great location for startups. Our county also makes up one of the largest automotive markets in the country.
That kind of market combined with our growing population makes a great place for our business to thrive. Our technology is changing the way people sell their vehicles, for the better. We believe that tomorrows generation should never have to experience the pain of knowing they should have gotten more for their vehicle.
