Today we’d like to introduce you to Britteny Wyatt.
Hi Britteny, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started out working part-time as an employee for Sunless Revolution on March 2o17. My thought was to see if I liked doing spray tans, and if so, I would start my own mobile business. May 2019, I got the opportunity to buy the business instead and was lucky enough to have my old boss as my mentor. Eight months later, covid happened and turned my world upside down. I had to downsize the business a little and was mainly doing mobile tans to stay afloat. I made it through all of that, and business took off again. So much so I was able to open a smaller location in Coronado. I now have two locations and three employees, and am still growing!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have dealt with quite a few bumps in the road since owning the salon. The first 8 months I was learning how to navigate owning a business with employees, running payroll, insurance, etc. It was a pretty big learning curve getting the hang of all of that, but I managed to figure things out. As soon as I was finally getting into a routine with all of that then covid hit. So, what should’ve been my first booming year turned into navigating through a pandemic where my business was deemed nonessential and forced to close. My salon turned into a storage facility for my equipment, and I was doing mobile tans to stay afloat. I made it through that year, and eventually, business picked up pretty much back to normal. The following summer I dealt with a flood in the tanning room from a bad pipe and a year later the entire salon flooded out. Working through a flood remodel for about 8 months was super stressful, but we got through it all! I am now in my fifth year owning and running Sunless Revolution Salon, and even though I have had more than my fair share of struggles, I am so proud of where we are today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the owner and operator of Sunless Revolution Salon. I specialize in Customized Airbrush Tanning and Contour Tanning. I also offer Sugar Hair Removal and LED Teeth Whitening. My airbrush tans are customized to your skin tone and are adjusted to be as light or as dark as you prefer. My contour tan contours what you already have but adds some extra definition to your body. It’s a great addition to your tan if you are planning on heading to the beach or just want to add that extra confidence boost. It is a great feeling seeing someone walk out feeling beautiful and more confident about themselves, and knowing I helped them achieve this.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being attentive to what the client wants and making sure they get the best experience from the time they walk into the salon to the time they walk out.
