So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I fell in love with photography when I took photojournalism in high-school, but never thought it would end up being my career choice. I picked up a camera about a year and a half ago after about 3 years and it was like catching up with an old friend over coffee. Photography really lit the creative fire inside me and I have been hooked ever since that day.
I quickly realized that photography was my passion and I started shooting more and more. I decided that I wanted to focus on capturing love, and started working to build an adventurous brand. The landscape in Southern California really inspired me to capture love against incredible backgrounds and it sparked the adventurous side of me that carries over into my work. I’m always in the mountains or out in the desert so it seemed so fitting to be able to not only capture couples and love, but to do so in jaw dropping places. Tayandbee Photography is all about adventure and lovers!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think the toughest part about this journey is maintaining work life balance. I become so easily work absorbed, that I often times neglect other aspects of my life. It has been incredibly tough to learn how to manage my time to be able to focus on my relationships AND business. I’m still learning, but getting better. When you’re so passionate about something, I think its second nature to want to devote all of your time into nurturing it to help it grow into what you’re envisioning.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Tayandbee Photography – what should we know?
Tayandbee Photography is about creating an adventure and capturing love. I specialize in elopements and weddings! My goal is to work with free spirited couples who are looking for more than just photos. I want to capture the real, raw and messy moments that tell your love story better than a posed photo ever could. I create an adventure for my couples and I create an atmosphere that produces genuine, candid photos. The most important part of this entire process is creating personal relationships with each and every couple I work with that extends beyond our photo sessions. This business and brand are so important to me, and Tayandbee Photography truly is a reflection of my adventurous personality and I love being able to put so much of my heart into it.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think being personable helps SO MUCH when you are working with clients. I want to be everyone’s best friend (seriously), so I try and create relationships beforehand so I can really tell your love story to the best of my ability. Being open, honest, and real makes it easier for clients to open up and feel genuine with you as well, which in turn, creates an atmosphere during sessions that produces those effortless, candid photos.
