Meet Brock Van Pelt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brock Van Pelt.

Hi Brock, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Brock and I am a lead singer in a band called the Charities. I grew up in Los Angeles California with a single mother who had a widespread taste in music we were very poor so my mother used to sometimes enter in karaoke contests to win an extra 300 dollars to help pay for rent which she won quite a few times. My friends usually took care of me and their families watched out for me. over time I realized music was my passion and started playin in local bands from my teens till my twenties when I formed the band the Charities with the help of some best friends and musical soulmates in my neighborhood at the time. The band has since then grown immensely and changed line ups but the love and passion for the music is still there. The pandemic took a hefty blow to the band and to me personally considering my mother who is one of the reasons I started my musical career struggled with homelessness for quite some time since then she is doing better and the band is back and exceeding its expectations. I love my band, friends, and family and appreciate the ongoing support from them and fans. I hope to one day be as successful as some of my inspirations that I am now starting to meet while playing on the road and be able to give back to people who struggled like me when I was coming up thank you!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
