Meet Victoria Brose of Brose Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Brose.

Victoria, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It was back in high school freshman year where photography really caught my interest. I was going to pick an elective for the semester and digital photography caught my eye and ever since then I’ve always loved it and had a passion in doing it. I was gifted a camera a few years back and immediately fell in love and knew I wanted to turn this hobby and passion of mine into something more. I started off offering free sessions to any and everyone as trial and error and to learn the ways of my first camera. I got my portfolio built, educated myself in several ways and practiced and practiced and practiced. I reached out to those I look up to in this industry when I needed it and I never turned down advice and that I believe has helped get me to where I am today and where I Can only hope to be in the future. I never stop learning new things and trying new things and testing boundaries!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It most definitely has been rough. You’re always going to have those people trying to bring you down and make you feel like your success isn’t important. And I’ve learned that multiple times. But you learn to brush them to the side and keep doing you. You focus on yourself and your end goal and that’s all you can really do. Keep doing what you love even when you feel like quitting. You use those trying to knock you down as motivation to not give up and to succeed and give it all you got and that goes with anything in life.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company is Brose Photography. I officially started back in 2017 as a career and not just a hobby. I do all types of sessions from families and couples, to newborns, special events weddings, births, you name it I’ve probably done it! As the owner I would say I am most proud of my determination, my self taught skills. Seeing where I started and where I’m at today with my work brings me so much joy seeing how much I’ve improved in so little time and will only continue to improve. It’s a night and day difference what a little motivation and determination can do and my work I feel is proof of that. I feel what sets me apart is the willingness to make capturing memories affordable for everyone. I pride myself in creating custom packages to fit any needs and any budget. Money isn’t the priority to me. I figure out my cost of doing business and i charge that and that’s it most of the time. To me it’s about helping a family be able to have precious moments captured without having to worry about the financial stress of it. And the rewarding feeling I get after returning images to them knowing I was able to create something special for their precious moments.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I’ve always been outgoing. I was always the talkative fun and edgy one. I was the friend everyone could come to no matter what it was. I was the girl who never wanted anyone to feel excluded. I grew up as a competitive cheerleader for 17 years and I feel that helped shape me into who I am today. It made me creative, outgoing and willing to experience new things and see new places. It showed me what motivation and determination really were. It pushed me to keep going when I wanted to give up. My coaches Carlos, Irazmi, and Tannaz and so many others shaped me into who I am today and honestly I can’t even begin to thank them for everything and always teaching me valuable life lessons that I still use to this day. But especially my coach Troy. My very first coach and I can honestly say he is a big part of my success and the one who first taught me to never give up on my dreams. Because of him and the life lessons I learned from him, I was able to make my photography career what it is today. Every time I wanted to give up or someone tried to bring me down I remembered everything he taught me. I went back to every John Wooden quote he had plastered around the gym and in our heads and I knew that falling was apart of the learning process. I’ve fallen several times to get to where I am today and I want people to know that. Success isn’t just handed to you. You have to build it. You have to work for it. And I’m working for it you will fall. But it’s part of the learning process. Don’t be scared to chase your dreams. I did. I put my fear behind me and went for it and now I can truly say I am chasing my dreams and never been happier!
