Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Carroll.
Bryan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a need for a creative outlet. In my childhood years, my sister and I would write songs and come up with band names thinking we’d be the next pop star. Fast forward to my preteen years, I had dreams to become an actor and star in the next big blockbuster film. I’ll never forget walking up to my first, and last, acting class; they wanted me to sing in front of the students. I turned around and decided maybe this whole acting thing wasn’t for me.
After all this, I started taking music lessons, going from drums to guitar. This stuck for a while, but that too faded away. I guess at this point you’re probably thinking I have commitment issues, but I see it differently. I hadn’t found my creative outlet yet. This wasn’t until I was gifted my first camera, a small Canon point-and-shoot, that things began to change. I brought that thing with me everywhere.
From family vacations to days out with friends, I was always snapping photos. As time went on, I began to upgrade cameras and equipment, traveled to new places, and gained some clients along the way. I know I still have a lot to learn, but that’s what I love about photography. There is always room to grow. I found my outlet.
Has it been a smooth road?
One of my biggest challenges I’ve come across is making sure to have a good balance between my work and my passion. My source of income as a photographer is mainly from shooting real estate and commercial properties.
My passion for photography is travel and landscape photography. I’m extremely grateful to be able to get paid doing what I love, but it’s always refreshing to go out and shoot for myself if I ever feel like I’m getting in a creative rut.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Nomadic Shots story. Tell us more about the business.
With a strong desire to travel and always be on the move, I decided to name my photography business Nomadic Shots. This describes how I am as a person and photographer. I love getting out of my comfort zone and experiencing new places; it brings a sense of excitement and inspiration I don’t get from just staying put.
While shooting, I’m always looking for unique perspectives that will catch the viewers eye. This holds true even for real estate and commercial shoots. I love putting a creative twist on client work that can sometimes be viewed as simple.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I always like to remain true to myself and my passion. I love to travel just as much as I love photography. With that said, it’s one of my many goals to incorporate a travel blog into my photography business.
