Meet Candyce Fabre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candyce Fabre.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I started drawing around four or five years old. As I grew up, drawing became an outlet for me, however, I did not share my art with many people. When I got into high school, I started to gain interest in fashion design as a career option. I loved collecting fashion magazines, like Vogue or Elle, and sketching my favorite outfits or models. At the time, I was very sure that this was the career I wanted to go into. Around my senior year of high school, my interest in fashion design had faded away. Although I was no longer interested in that particular career, I continued to sketch and create different visuals.

When I got into college, I majored in Art for a short period of time, which is where I learned the technique of painting. I ended up switching my major and graduating with a degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Journalism. Even though I was uncertain about the career I wanted to go into, I knew that art would always be a part of my life.

During my time in college, I was living in the Central Valley of California. Following graduation, I moved back to SoCal and started experimenting with digital art. A very close friend of mine suggested that I start featuring my work in art shows. Although I was a little apprehensive, I decided to take my friend’s advice. I submitted my artwork in my first show on June 2, 2017, at the Pancakes and Booze Art Show. Almost a year later, I put on my first solo art show on April 20, 2018, called the Candyland Art Exhibit.

Please tell us about your art.
I create my art digitally, by sketching or painting.

Most of the art that I create is based on my personal emotions and experiences. My goal is to evoke feelings from my viewers. I want them to connect and relate to what they see. The overall message that most of my art pieces project is self-love and positive transitioning. I find that the main issues that a lot of people I know struggle with is being confident in their flaws, and knowing that things will get better through bad times. I want my audience to be encouraged within themselves and in life.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
I define success as happiness and peace within. In order to become successful, I try to stay motivated and maintain patience. Also, I continue to allow myself to grow and learn new things. I believe that with motivation, patience, growth, and the willingness to learn, I will be successful.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
