Meet Carolein Toma of Big Block Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolein Toma.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always wanted to start my own business, but I also wanted to help others during that process. I figured what career is more rewarding than helping people not only find their dream home, but helping them through the biggest financial decision of their lives? A Realtor of course! To me, being a Realtor is so much more than sales, it’s developing a lifelong relationship with my clients and making sure they receive the best service around. I pride myself in being an expert negotiator and really going the extra mile for my clients. I am available 8 am – 8 pm, and even on weekends.

I have set up my schedule this way because I want my clients to be able to easily get ahold of me throughout the day, as I understand both buying & selling a home is very stressful. I try to alleviate as much of the stress as possible so that my clients are able to enjoy the process, because it truly is exciting to become a homeowner & also to be able to sell your home and get top dollar! The passion I have for this industry has helped me double, and then triple my business in just 3 years!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Just as with any business, the first year is the most difficult, especially being a Realtor in San Diego, as there is a lot of competition. The moment I started worrying less about the competition and focused more on making sure my clients are satisfied, is when my business began to flourish. You have to continue to remind yourself, why am I doing this? And if your answer is “for the money”, you will not make it far in this industry. There are good days and bad days just as with any other career, but the faster you get up after failure, the quicker you will reach success.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Carolein Toma, Realtor story. Tell us more about the business.
As a Realtor who’s an expert in the San Diego marketplace, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise about buying and selling real estate. It’s not the same everywhere, so you need someone you can trust for up-to-date information. I am eager to serve my clients with all of their Real Estate needs, which includes: Buying, Selling, Investing, Short Sales, and Foreclosures. When purchasing a home, I make sure to negotiate the best deal for you and walk you through the entire escrow process and beyond. When selling a home, I make sure to advertise your home on all the major websites, provide advice on staging, recommend home updates, and of course, I hire a professional for video & photography.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
In the famous words of the Roman philosopher Seneca, “Luck is what happens when Preparation meets Opportunity”. Therefore, I do not attribute any of my success or failure to luck, rather I believe it has more to do with effort and making sure you are prepared for the opportunity when it presents itself.
