Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina Holmes and Zaid Diaz.
Carolina and Zaid, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We met in college while studying graphic design and became friends from the very beginning. After working corporate jobs and for other creative studios, we realized we wanted to start our own business. One of our biggest motivators being to have a more personal and meaningful relationship with our clients. So far, we’ve been fortunate to work with passionate clients who share our light-hearted and laid back personality.
In the beginning, we were working across the border in Tijuana, MX. This is the city where we grew up and knew the most, so it made sense to start our business there. However, we wanted to keep growing and challenging ourselves so we decided to move to a bigger city like San Diego to have new experiences. This past April we celebrated two years officially as Vortic and we’re looking forward to what the future holds!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Changing cities was truly exciting, but we had a tough road ahead. First, we needed to create new relationships and build trust. Networking events played a key role in this; one of our favorites is Holy Matcha’s Matcha Mornings, where we met other female entrepreneurs and even some of our first clients in the city!
Along the way we realized we needed to expand our services to be a better fit for our clients. We started using photography and social media content to bring brands to life. Now, it is one of our favorite services to offer because it allows us to fully showcase the brand’s personality in a creative way.
Vortic Studio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Vortic is a creative studio making brands with heart and soul. We offer branding and content creation with a collaborative approach. Our goal is to shape businesses into humane brands by helping our clients find what makes them special and creating a personality to match.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Although we were lucky enough to have met each other, we have built our business through hard work and constantly pushing ourselves to be better creatives. We’ve had our ups and downs but when we start doubting ourselves, we always go back to our core purpose to keep us going: Use our creativity to help businesses find their brand spirit and share their story.
