Meet Cassandra Crimmins of San Diego/Colorado Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Crimmins

Hi Cassandra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Im a local actress and model. 5 years ago, a close friend of mine approached me about acting in a short film of theirs, they had never directed before and I had never acted before. We both immediately became obsessed with film making. After that film was submitted to a local film festival, I had other film makers invite me to be apart of their projects. I became a known local actress and had had the privilege to be in over 20 short/feature length films in that time. Modeling happened for me the same way, I had a few photographers see my acting work and they reached out about shooting with me. I’ve been really lucky to have so many amazing people believe in me and support me. I’ve only recently been acting professionally(about a year or so), but I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first started getting paid for my acting, I was getting roles for short projects that didn’t pay a lot, and that didn’t respect me either. I’ve had to build up a skin to it and learn to stand up for myself. Learning to say “no” has been the most freeing experience.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
To my core I’m an actor. I enjoy modeling as well, but I’ve never felt anything like what acting makes me feel. I get to play with and control my emotions at will. When i walk onto a set, most of my costars have been acting their entire lives, sometimes i feel embarrassed when they ask me how long ive been acting for and my answer is a 4th of theirs. For the last 5 years I’ve participated in a local film festival(it’s a tradition now for me and my friend who initially asked me to participate in 2020), in 2023 I won best actress, and I’ve been nominated for best actress every other year. The difference between me and my competition, is that I’m not acting, I’m feeling. I’m taking on the role to a level that effects me personally.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My dedication and my motivation. I’ll do just about anything to get the perfect take. From being soaked in blood in negative degree weather, to getting tackled and thrown against furniture, I’m doing whatever it takes to get a truly memorable scene. I love what I do, I can’t wait to do it for the rest of my life.
