Meet Cassandra Curtis of Once Upon a Farm in Clairemont

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Curtis.

Cassandra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When my first daughter Divinaka was born, I tried to make all of her food from scratch, and all while working full-time. I found it impossible to shop, wash, chop, blend, clean, and do all of the other things on my list. And simply stated, I just not did I know if I was giving my baby all the right nutrients. Buying produce in the grocery store certainly doesn’t go through all the scrutiny and quality checks that are key to understanding what exactly we’re feeding our families and babies. Creating Once Upon a Farm became my opportunity to combat all of those ingredient concerns.

Has it been a smooth road?
There have and always will be, ups and downs. And both are such an important part of life. But overall, yes, I met the right people and found the right opportunities and all at what felt like the perfect times.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Once Upon a Farm story. Tell us more about the business.
My title is Co-Founder & Chief Innovation Officer at Once Upon a Farm. As our leader in product innovation and mother of three, my role is responsible for developing all of our delicious and safe products using only the best, freshest organic ingredients.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Organic, fresh foods that connect us to our planet, and the farmers who grow them, will continue to take off. And it is my hope, that through that deepening connection to food, that we begin to change the way we think about how we eat and what we feed our families. I believe the Natural & Organic Industry will continue to lead the way, with hungry entrepreneurs introducing new flavors and ideas to consumers.
