Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Koenig.
Hi Cassandra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey to becoming a family law attorney in San Diego is deeply rooted in my personal experiences and the challenges I faced while growing up. Hailing from a low-income family in Albany, New York, my older brother and I were raised by our single father, who worked tirelessly as a construction worker to make ends meet. Our family was no stranger to the involvement of Child Protective Services during our childhood due to domestic abuse issues within our household. My brother and I would then live with our grandfather and relatives during these times.
One of the most pivotal moments in my life was experiencing parental estrangement from both parents at different times. These painful separations left a lasting impact on me and ignited my passion for family law. I realized the profound importance of stable and nurturing family environments for children’s well-being. It was during those difficult times that I decided to dedicate my career to helping families navigate the complex legal challenges they face, particularly in the context of divorce, custody disputes, and domestic violence issues.
As I navigated the complexities of being emotionally and financially independent at 17, I reflected on a quote that has always resonated with me: “You don’t find the happy life; you make it.” These words by Thomas S. Monson have become a guiding principle in my life and my work as a family law attorney. They serve as a constant reminder that, no matter the challenges we face, it is within our power to create happiness and stability for ourselves and our families. This insight fuels my dedication to helping others overcome their own obstacles and find their path to a brighter and more secure future.
Through hard work, determination, and unwavering support from my paternal grandfather, I pursued my education and eventually earned my law degree. Now, as a family law attorney in San Diego, I am committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of families, drawing upon my own experiences to provide compassionate and empathetic legal counsel to those in need. My personal journey has not only shaped my career but also fueled my determination to make a positive difference in the lives of families facing similar challenges.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Later in life, while I was in my late twenties, a remarkable twist of fate brought an unexpected chapter to my journey as a family law attorney in San Diego. Through the wonders of Ancestry.com, I discovered a full-blooded sister, only a few years older than me, whom I had never known existed. She and I now speak almost every day. She was even my maid of honor at my wedding.
This revelation further underscored the importance of family bonds and the enduring impact they have on our lives. It was a reminder that, despite childhood hardships, finding your own stability and happiness is crucial.
