Today we’d like to introduce you to Celestine Fabros.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always been a creative person but didn’t have a lot of outlet for it growing up. I went to school for Political Science and had made up my mind that I was going to go to law school and pursue a career in immigration. After thinking it over, I decided it wasn’t for me.
During that time, I was soul searching and was blogging as an outlet for my thoughts and creative energy. I started playing around with web design and branding myself. Soon enough I had people asking who designed my site and if I could put them in touch.
I then met some really talented creatives and entrepreneurs back when I was living in Philadelphia and really got my first shot into freelancing then. Since moving to San Diego about four years ago now, I’ve taken some classes to solidify my knowledge and just hone my craft more and more.
Now, I’m proudly taking on more clients and about to launch my services full-time come mid-October of this year.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely posed its own set of challenges. I freelanced part-time during my last two years in Philadelphia. When I moved, I returned to a full-time. At that moment I was going through some things and had no creative energy and motivation, so I took a break.
I did slowly get back to it with helping out in the branding of my current job and have since taken on more work. But yes outside of the financial challenges, there was definitely a struggle when I wasn’t feeling inspired and seemingly couldn’t get myself out of the creative-block I was experiencing.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
My business is all about helping small businesses, and creative individuals elevated their brand through web and brand design from logos, to photos and branded merchandise and collateral. What I offer that is unique is the ability to be a one-stop-shop for someone who needs the package.
I really enjoy creating brand identities for businesses and helping them from step one up until completion. I can handle the design, the website, branded photos, product photos, business card designs, email newsletters, and merchandise.
My services really set up a new business or a business looking to redesign their existing brand for success as I can provide all the basics to help you get up and running.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from my childhood… Well, I’m a huge nerd, and I enjoyed (still do, actually) taking home biology and astronomy books and reading up on different species of plants and animals and space. Haha!
