Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Aragon.
Charles, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hi! My name is Charles Aragon and this is my story. Ever since Middle school, I loved photography because of my Instagram. Moving into High school was scary but when I heard that my first class was Multi-Media, I knew that class would help me with editing and taking better pictures as well as videography. I started thinking about doing YouTube around the summer of Freshman year but I wasn’t sure it was going to work out for me like I thought I needed a camera and all that expensive equipment but when the Sophomore year started I was like I’m a tryout YouTube see how it goes and so I filmed and edited with my Phone.
My first ever video was a vlog about my very first day in Sophomore year and everyone was like, “You won’t make it,” “You have a little bit of subscribers,” “You’re weird for doing YouTube.” That made me really sad and I deleted those videos. Afterwards, I continued with my dream and I didn’t pay attention to whatever someone said to me. People in my school started calling me “Jubie. Charless,” I thought they were bullying me because of the name but then I came to realize that they were supporting me by telling me when my next video was gonna be uploaded. After hearing that, I took YouTube more seriously.
I started making Interview question videos at school and students really enjoyed that. When I hit 100 subscribers, I took YouTube even more seriously by working for a camera, going to the mall with friends to make content that people would enjoy. When I hit 200, 300 and then 350 I spent half of my hard-working savings money on just my MacBook Air so I could edit my videos even better so I could get more people to look at my videos and I didn’t stop there I continued making money to hopefully one day have enough for the other equipment I needed. I knew that this was working out and all I ever needed was to put my full effort, heart and mind to YouTube.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some struggles were like at first, I thought it would be nice making videos soon maybe some for the school or businesses but when I got to school, I started feeling a little bit distant like if people hated me or didn’t want to hang out for what I was doing. I didn’t have the money for all the equipment I wanted, but soon I realized it wasn’t about the equipment but how much you loved doing what you were doing.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I post a lot of photos of myself on Instagram soon, hoping to be an ambassador for clothing companies and keep growing my followers. In YouTube, I post public interview questions, vlogs, pranks, Q&A’s, challenges and I’m soon going to be posting more content than just those.
